ORIGINAL: Irishknight ........he also delivered the message to Congress that it was time to stop playing childish partisan games. He spoke of offering friendship to the world. I think the words he said that will stick in the minds of many in other countries were to their leaders. "You will be remembered for what you build, not what you destroy." Those are words for leaders both present and future to live by. If they do, the world will become a far better place. This is one of many things that stuck out for me. As these words were said, I had a teenager I was watching this with look at me and say "I wonder what Bush and Cheney are thinking right now". We then went on to have a pretty lengthy discussion about the changes she wants to see with this new president. She was inspired, as am I, and isn't that a wonderful thing! I'll admit, I reached for a couple of tissues during his speech. I can only hope that after the hype has died down and it's time to get down to business that Americans continue to remember that it's up to all of us, not just the government, to facilitate change. Heck, I saw it today!
