Actually, the Crawford home is a vacation home.  He and Laura Bush bought a house in the Preston Hollow area of Dallas.  It's where they will be living.  If you've never been there, it's a pretty swanky area.

As long as he stays in Texas and out of sight, it's all good.

Raechard -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 12:53:55 PM)

Actually you are all wrong he now lives incognito and is moved from place to place by the SS due to his warlord status. No more trips to Europe either.[:(]

He said he'd be stepping out of the spotlight.  Unlike the narcissistic, self-serving Clintons, he has enough class to do that.

In Disguise, just outside Guise.

Yeah, after slaveboy wrote that, I went to YouTube and watched.  It definitely was meant to be funny and it was.  It's good to see that people can actually have a sense of humor about it and take it for what it was.  I don't care what the cynics say (and I'm usually such a cynic, myself) but I'm happy and hopeful...nah nah na nah

Luci, I understood that it was meant to be humorous.  But I was offended by a portion of that little sermon.  Reverend Lowery said this:

quote:

"We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back ... when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man ... and when white will embrace what is right ..."

Note the part that I underlined.  It's an attack on us evil white people.  Essentially he's saying that us blue-eyed devils are still evil, but he hopes we'll become enlightened now that St. Obama is showing us the way.  My one hope from the outcome of this election is that professional race baiters like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and apparently Rev. Lowery will no longer be given credence for their bogus views on the evil white man.

See, that's not at all how I understood it; neither did any of the ten white, middle-aged women I watched the inauguration with. It was funny, a light note, a quote.

It's astounding  to hear people clamouring for the benefit of political correctness after complaining against it all this time.

I tend to see it as his second showing of some measure of intelligence in many years. Of course you will see it differently.

I hate Dallas, nothing but a bunch of arrogant asshats live there...Now if it was San Antonio....

George W does not live in Dallas. He lives in Crawford...very close to Waco

Correction: "lived" in Crawford*.  He and Laura just moved to Dallas.

*Location of the ranch bought one year before the 2000 election, to boost his "cowboy" image.  Sadly, no horses, since he's afeard of 'em.

LaTigresse -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 1:50:50 PM)

You mean, all we had to do to get rid of him is chase him with pogo horses or something?!?!?

You tell us THIS???????? NOW!!!!!!!????!!!!

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 1:51:43 PM)

Kittin, you didn't have to grow up with this kind of crap.  If you were a white male raised in the southern United States, you had to essentially prove that you weren't a racist.  If I said, "....when black stops smoking crack."  Would you find that cute and light-hearted humor?  I'm not politically correct, but I am offended by hypocracy and double-standards.  A white preacher would never get away with saying that kind of nonsense.  I find it extremely amusing that so many attack white-Christian fundamentalist preachers while giving a free pass to black fundamentalist preachers.  As someone who grew up where tent-revival, fire and brimstone religion is the norm; I can assure you that the sermons at black churches don't differ much from the sermons at white churches.

Cagey18 -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 1:53:26 PM)

Mebbe the Dallas house isn't ready yet.  I know it's a gated community (whose covenant was once specifically "whites only"), whose residents are excited about their new celebrity neighbor.

Yep, skeered, according to the President of Mexico, Vicente Fox.  He definitely doesn't ride them like Reagan did, and none are at Crawford.  Hence the reason his photo-ops there are confined to "clearing brush".

At least he's not scared of riding bikes.  But he does have trouble not falling off a Segway.
