I just don't understand the labeling of him as a failure before he has had a chance to do anything.

Likewise, I just don't understand so many practically worshipping him for doing the same thing virtually every president before him has done up to this point - win an election on promises of change.

Yeah what I wonder is, well is this the first time that people have got excited about a new president?

We were watching CNN Live from our computer at work.  It was really cool because as people would walk by, they would stop and stay, and pretty soon there was a small crowd of people who didn't even know each other, all gathered around and feeling hopeful, joking with each other, and soaking it in.

Re: that "If yer yellow...you be mellow" (or something like that) speech, it was meant to be silly and funny.  Obama was laughing, the preacher was grinning, and we were all cracking up.  He was bringing levity to an otherwise emotionally intense day, and people took it in stride.

Yeah, after slaveboy wrote that, I went to YouTube and watched.  It definitely was meant to be funny and it was.  It's good to see that people can actually have a sense of humor about it and take it for what it was.  I don't care what the cynics say (and I'm usually such a cynic, myself) but I'm happy and hopeful...nah nah na nah nah[image]http://www.collarchat.com/upfiles/smiley/lalala.gif[/image]

I have a crush on Obama. I think I will have dreams about him.....or shall I say WITH him LOL

GreedyTop -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 6:05:09 AM)

I'm not "worshipping' Obama/.... but as I've said in a couple of threads already...  I feel a sense of hope and optimism that I have NOT EVER felt in all the years I've been eligible to vote.

And based on what I've seen and heard, I'm NOT the only one who feels that way.

He'll doubtless make errors. He is only human.  But the fact that a large portion of the population seems to be feeling energized and hopeful with his election makes me think that some good change is in the air...

Taste is a funny thing...   I thought she looked perfectly well dressed.

I don't know who is worshiping Obama.    I don't know why some conservatives and haters insist on shoving that word down people's throats, just because those of us who think the best man for the job won, are happy about this occasion.   M

This just in....the only stock to rise yesterday was for the company that made gold lame fabric.

FullfigRIMAAM1 -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 6:20:46 AM)

I guess it's best to get used to it if it's going to be the new trend since everybody bought the stock.    M

KatyLied -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 6:38:07 AM)

I don't think everyone is buying it.  Politicians are salesman.  It's nice that hope is being sold and that people are encouraged to do good works.  I will hold my excitement until I see how well things go over the next 4 years.

That's perfectly reasonable.    I was responding to gold lame stock though in that particular post, though she wasn't wearing gold lame as inferred.     M

It was a joke.  But I forgot.  They're also off limits for jokes too.

Neither do I, MAAM. What I have concluded is that the conservatives in question can't stand the fact that none of their leaders have ever aroused such a movement in the population that Obama has. They know it's not worship: they hate that it's not worship. They would like for it to be worship though, but they know how much the American people have grown-up: they are no longer easily manipulated. Gone are the days of the Karl Rove magic tricks. People have their eyes wide-open, and there is no illusion over the fact that Obama and his team are fallible, but there hasn't been such hope and optimim in a long time either - especially in the face of such economic devastation - and that really, really grates, for some of  those who did not vote for the man...

It's all in the delivery.

Holy crap, are you serious?  Obama got elected ENTIRELY on how easily the American people were manipulated.  Over half of the Obama voters polled didn't even know what party controlled congress, while 90% of those polled could tell you all about Palin's pregnant teenage daughter.

Funny conclusions you have there too.  I, for one, am not "conservative", and think the "conservative" presidents of late have been nearly as bad as I expect Obama to be.  That's entirely seperate from the unwarranted adoration that this president has.

kittinSol -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 7:48:49 AM)

It should be obvious that I think you are wrong.

Truthiness -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 7:49:52 AM)

Obviously.  Your opinion isn't worth much though.

kittinSol -> RE: Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/21/2009 7:50:41 AM)

To me, and to those that worship me, my opinion is worth a lot.

Making their opinions equally worthless. ;)
