I understand all of the responses and perspectives that have been offered. Like with most "what do you think about...." posts, the responses to this one remind me, once again, that most things pertaining to BDSM are intensely subjective and personal.
I identify as dominant and have had much experience at it, an adult lifetime's worth to be exact. I never thought about being "pegged" until this past year when I got to thinking that I REALLY didn't know what penetration felt like or what emotions it produces. I suspected that it was different from "penetrating" in some material and profound way. In one of those "aha! moments", I speculated that I might become a better and more creative dominant if I actually had that experience. Somewhat like when I have struck my arm or leg with different whips, floggers etc. to see what sensations they bring.
Very long story short, after some solo practice because it did feel a little weird and undomly to have my female sub do it, I became comfortable enough with it to command her to put on the harness I had bought. This was preceded by a frank discussion with her about her feelings. She had no problem with it, saying that she was excited to serve me in any way I desired.
Now, having done it once and..ahem..actually enjoying parts of it, I'm not sure whether I will do it again. However, I believe that my initial speculation was correct, I learned something about "submitting" to penetration that will help me be a better dom. Take it for whatever it's worth.
