That is EXACTLY, how I watch Tv. It's the only way I know how. Sitting up in bed isn't comfortable nor cozy, and we only have the bed in here. Sometimes I do realize that my neck is craining, when I lay that way, but not usually. How else do you recommend watching TV? I went to a Chiro once, I went for what the doctor thought was sciatica, and went many many times and each time he made me hurt worse for days and days after going, i dreaded going, plus he laid me out on my stomach and put the electroes and heat onto my back, and then left for like 25 minutes and didn't check back untill he was coming to work on you, and sometimes I was beginning not to be able to breath, cause I am to heavy to lay on my stomach flat to long. Now I realize, not all Chiro's will be the same, I've just never considered one till recently, because of that experince. quote:
ORIGINAL: windchymes I agree with going to a massage school. They offer greatly reduced rates. One here in Northern Virginia does a one-hour, full-body massage for $35. As far as the pillows....if you can, bunch them up at the bottom so that they make a big wad or sort of roll and sleep with your neck on that roll, so it is supported. The roll is supporting your neck, and your head will be a little bit lower on the rest of the pillow. I'm not saying make the entire pillow into a roll, just moosh up the bottom part. You need to keep your neck and spine in as straight a horizontal line as possible. If your head is tilted up on the pillows, making an angle of your neck and spine, your muscles will go into spasms trying to both support you and get back to a normal straight position. Either search online or in stores or a chiropractor's office and look at the "orthopedic" or "therapeutic" pillows shapes. Try to make your feather pillows look like them as much as possible. It's not a 100% cure because sometimes the pillows will move during the night, but overall, it should improve your problem greatly. It works great for me, been doing it for years. The other thing you maybe doing which is horrible for the neck and shoulders, never watch tv lying on your side with your head on pillows. You might as well drive a knife in the side of your neck if you do that. Since you do have Medicare, I recommend finding a chiropractor in your area who accepts Medicare assignment and go to him. The one I"ve been seeing for 3 months has done absolute wonders for my neck and shoulders.
