ORIGINAL: thetammyjo For every "male" behavior I've seen declared I've known males who do not do said behavior thus proving that it is not a "male" behavior simply more common among males. I understand that, but we are speaking in general terms, and in general, there are differences. I can agree that a lot of what one is/does, is a result of socialization. But speaking in general, if most males (>60%) exhibit a behavior, but only 25% of women do the same, it would be fair to conclude, said behavior is more prevalent in men. quote:
Humanity is variety and the sooner we all realize that the better we may be able to help individual and the collective reach it's greatest and best potential. No one can disagree with this, but being different is a part of humanity, and makes no one more or less valuable to the world. And even if only for propagation of our species, some differences are good to have. M I'm unclear who you are arguing with in the above. Where have I said that differences are good or demonstrate less value? As for generalities great but they are simply that, generalities, not maleness or femaleness. But this is why we don't have to rely on biological sex, we can also use gender as a way to make generalities if we must make them -- at some psychological level I think the human mind must start at that level in order to process the world. Gender isn't biology, it takes into consideration the socialization as well. Even within a society there will be more than two gender though it is rare for others to be given full value by the society at large that does not mean everyone fits neatly into that gender box. I try to judge people based on what I can see and hear from that person especially when it comes to any interpersonal relationship. So when the OP asked about being afraid of maleness then gives gender generalities as his examples, I tried to address what he was really asking which I think is "Why do I sense fear from women just because I'm a man?" The comment you were responding to was another post from me commenting on another response, it was not a statement of my personal feelings about the OP. So I'm really confused if you are angry or disagreeing with me or what...
