I just started playing D&D a couple months ago, Arpig is the DM, he rocks!

iwannapullurhair -> RE: Role playing games (4/30/2007 6:46:36 PM)

I've played for years, since I was 12 or 13, one role playing game or another. D&D is my favorite. I was really into second edition D&D and then they changed everything. Now I have to relearn it all and find I just don't have the energy to do that.

Now that me and my role playing friends are older, we play about 3 or 4 times a year. When we were 18, we played every week. Getting older players to actually have time at the same time is tough. Everybody is married or working.

I was usually the Dungeon Master. I'm good at cooking up adventures and complex stories without pre-planning. I do enjoy being a player at times too, but I am best as DM and the players like how I am so proficient at it.(If only there was a job in being DM!)

Sinergy -> RE: Role playing games (4/30/2007 6:59:28 PM)

I played Dungeons and Dragons, although I tended to prefer to be the Dungeon master.

I played internet games all the time, but when I stopped getting paid to play (the internet site went out of business, I left computer gigs to be a longshoreman) I ran out of time I was willing to spend playing them.

They are fun, but I dont have enough time in my life to do all the important things in it, and I lack the willingness to spend what little time I have playing with digital people.

Does anyone here play role playing games such as Dungeons & Dragaons?

D&D, Call of Cthulhu, White Wolf, Champions, Paranoia, Stormbringer, GURPS, 7th Sea, Serenity/Firefly, Munchkin, Ninja Burger, etc.  I like to get my geek on.

I currently run an online Serenity/Firefly campaign on Tuesday evenings, interactive text format (MUCK), storytelling style, and there is room for more players.  :)

Heh, my group is in the middle of a Serenity Valley rpg... we survived the.... 'crashing meteor' style landing, the mine field, the attack by wild boars, and the er....... accidental... destruction of the shed full of missiles... and now were about to get hosed :)
And I might challenge for that FF spot

Excellent; you'd be the second CM convert to this particular game.  :)  Cmail me on the other side for login info.

I wish my schedule was such that I could play.   I'm a complete gaming geek, and have been since I was 15.  My first D&D game was in the blue box, which demonstrates my age rather scarily.  I've played D&D, Stormbringer, GURPS, Champions, and I dabbled a little in the Warhammer RPG.  (not the miniatures)  I have several White Wolf books, but I've never actually played a game, though  I did create a very nifty Nosferatu, just in case.  I bought the Serenity rpg sourcebook, and my sister swiped it, allegedly to start planning a campaign.   Oh, I also played Call of Cthulu once, and Paranoia a few times.   I looooove Munchkin!  Has anyone ever played the card game Naval War from Avalon Hill?

phoenixinchains -> RE: Role playing games (4/30/2007 10:25:18 PM)

i started gaming in the tender years when acne was the bane of my existance... one year into marriage my Mate played his first D&D game, and for the last six+ years we've played when ever we find a group... and now He's found WOW and doesn't need a group ((grumble gripe moan)) but given the chance we still game prefering D&D and White Wolf -Phoenix

Sicarius -> RE: Role playing games (5/1/2007 1:12:16 AM)

My partner and I both love RPG's, though we lean pretty heavily to tabletop, LARP, and text-based RP online as opposed to video games.  We've played a pretty wide assortment of games, but we lean heavily toward White Wolf's original World of Darkness setting -- especially Werewolf: the Apocalypse.

Llyren -> RE: Role playing games (5/2/2007 6:47:09 AM)

I have the Werewolf book, but I haven't played it yet.  I can't find anyone else around who does, much less who could play within my available times.  I'm leaning a bit more towards wanting to play Vampire, though.  I have a cheerful, well-adjusted Nosferatu I'd like to use to annoy the Toreador.  [sm=mrpuffy.gif]

Love it!!!

Oh man, D&D + AD&D have been my very fav. passtime since the mid '80s!  Growing up I played with weirdo friends, in my early twenties I was fortunate to find an awesome group of guys to game with, and now I dm for my two kids on most Friday nights.

The kiddos have created the "Dragonfire Battle Clan" LoL

Lashra -> RE: Role playing games (5/2/2007 7:34:04 AM)

Yes I used to play D&D, AD&D, the white wolf games were some of the best I thought. Vampire the Masquerade was my favorite though.

When I got married my hubby showed me D&D and I got into it we have been married almost 14 years now and we still get together with a group every couple of weeks.  We have played D&D 2nd, 3rd and now 3.5.  We also play Battletech, vampire, shadowrun, and he is into one called star fleet battles which is a guess a table top star trek thing I just can't figure that one out.

roadscholar -> RE: Role playing games (5/2/2007 8:54:22 AM)

LoL...that is so funny.  When i got married my hubby made me STOP gaming because he didn't trust all those geeky guys alone with me for hours doing something that turns my brain on....and he does -not- play.

Llyren -> RE: Role playing games (5/2/2007 5:58:01 PM)

I can't imagine being involved with anyone who wasn't a gamer.  It's kinda like asking me to choose between a man and my cats.  There won't be any submission if I'm in the middle of a critical part of a game.

You poor thing.  I don't think I could maintain a relationship with someone who didn't play as well, or at least act receptive to the idea.  I may go so far as to putting it on the sub contract.  lol

Llyren -> RE: Role playing games (5/2/2007 6:04:03 PM)

I played Star Fleet Battles in college!  If you love mucking about with ship design, it's a great game, since most of your game consists of designing ships, and marking off little squares on a piece of paper.  These are the same people who spend most of their time playing Master of Orion 2 designing ships.
