TheBabySitter -> How do I avoid scammers and creeps? (1/25/2009 11:54:02 PM)

Hi, new here, not really here for the forums, just the main site where I am looking for a guy or two to get my kink on with.

I was hoping I could get some advice on how to tell the difference between the guys just f***ing around and the serious guys who really want to do my kink with me. I know no one can say what is in a guys head for 100% but I figure those of you who have been here awhile might have some tips that would at least help me avoid some of the nuts and time wasters.

I do know about the dangers to be aware of in meeting web guys in real life (I was on a normal dating website before).
Are there any dangers that are special to collarme I should watch out for?

Thanks

Just treat it like everyday dating.  There is not special difference between a bdsm Site and other dating ones.

Here on CM most of us have a decoder ring that ties in with a bull shit meter which is used in conjunction with ....

The contraption is called common sense.

LOLOL
I hope you never give inspirational seminars, or everyone will run out and go inhale black fumes.    M

MstrPBK -> RE: How do I avoid scammers and creeps? (1/26/2009 1:05:52 AM)

By the 5 message for me I have spotted the BS or crap. I go with common sense too. A few key points for me are:

1) have they actually read your profile all the way down to the journal entries.
2) are they listening to you or do they keep spewing their agenda.
3) the moment money comes up - that's when to back off ...

Hello TheBabysitter,

Welcome to the forum for one.
The best way to avoid scammers and creeps,
is to close your computer and throw it out of the window.
[:D]
That's the only way you can't meet them online.

The scammer & creep sort, will
ask you to get on cam asap,
and do anything to get them off,[8D]
they will be vague about themselves,
if they are single or not.[>:]
Most don't even post on the forum,
because they simply don't have the time for it,
nor do they want to be known out here.[&:]
They will ask ridiculous stuff of you,
all for their benefit.

I would suggest you make good friends here on the site.
And discuss the men who respond to your add,
always trust your guts instinct, when something
seems smelly? Then don't get involved.

Read here on the forum, so you get to know people on here,
which are willing to share their knowledge,
and care about people, to give their opinion.
[:D]
Those are a few tips.

B safe hon.

StormsSlave -> RE: How do I avoid scammers and creeps? (1/26/2009 1:20:13 AM)

I was going to say something glib and snarky, but what the hell, I'll actually contribute.

In my experience the posers are the ones who:
send one word emails to start a conversation.
obviously have not read your profile
want to get your IM immediately
start off the conversation with any variation of, "I am your lord and master.  Bow at my feet."
can't talk to you in the evening, or ever talk to you spontaneously because of the wife/s.o. that you won't know about
send any kind of form letter (this isn't always a teller, but it's pretty accurate.)

Sailingbum is right.  Use your common sense.  It's not so hard to spot them.  Just ignore any of them that you don't like.  What do you in a bar when a creep comes on to you.  *shrug*  Same principle.

To those giving real advice.........thank you

To the others............I guess I should have realized some of the time wasters would be in the forums too.

oh, I have common sense but this is an UNCOMMON website. I dont know exactly what is considered "normal" when a guy emails and what is considered "abnormal" that is why I asked for advice. Truth it, all the emails are "not normal" if you are only use to standard dating sites.

thx to Stormsslave, and GoddessTeaze for your long and helpful answers
thx to MstrPBK also

That was my first thought of advice to give or crawl under a rock for the next 100 years.  I geuss ppl don't get anyplace on line is a reflection of society in general.  Ya know mother rapers, felons, father rapers you get the idea.

A change of attitude and polishing some social skills might also work to your advantage too.

right? lol

How dare I ask for advice and how dare I say thank you twice and how dare I have an attitude YOU don't like.

How dare I? LOL

Oh, did I ask for advice on my social skills? Or did I ask another question? Maybe you should take you OWN advice and not attack people, maybe it would be more to YOUR advantage to just stick to the question asked, maybe.

You were given probably the best advice in the first reply;
quote:

You responded to it with attitude...so meh. If you use common sense you'll be fine, if you want to think BDSM is "special" or "abnormal" then...well whatever.

IronBear -> RE: How do I avoid scammers and creeps? (1/26/2009 2:23:22 AM)

Taking the heading as the crux of the question my response is to TURN THE COMPUTER OFF AND GET A BOOK OR VISIT YOUR LOCAL MUNCH.... At least you can better assess the person who interests you or is interested in you. If some one wants to insult you, they can do it face to face and you have the delicious pleasure of choosing to
  1. Ignore.
  2. Reply in similar form.
  3. Haul back and pant a bunched set of fives right in their cake hole with a bonus for every toofey-peg you remove.
