When you look at a profile, what are the things that make you think you would or would not rather contact that person?  I'm not asking about the obvious things like age, gender, or role, but the things in the profile's self-description.

For me, the big turnoffs are excessive vehemence about what she doesn't like, lack of conciseness, and vague poetry instead of self-description.  Also, if there's a photo of her flipping a bird, I tend to think that she's a brat looking to play games.

Huge turnons for me include a good writing ability, and a sense of humor.  And a smile in the pictures.

Any others?

i like the sense of humor, like when people tell about thier likes outside of lifestyle example, fishing camping ect.

dont like when they leave everything blank, or have pictures where you cant see them because its so far or blurry.

I like it when someone's personality shines through, good or bad, that just smacks of transparency to me as in what you see is what you get. Humor is a huge plus and blank profiles are hidden. Laundry lists of what you can 'do' to me are a turn-off as well as what I'll do for you. I just wanna see the human at the other end of the cyber highway.

Personal preference.. I like dork stuff and anyone that manages to toss in references to Star Trek get brownie points. ;)

[;)]  For obvious reasons, I don't perv profiles much anymore but when I did, I looked for things like a sense of humour, that the person had a life besides sex and BDSM (like listed interests, hobbies, that sort of thing), came across as honest, respectful and not a game-playing troll, and a good photograph of themselves, not something obviously ripped off the net or taken in a dark room with a bad webcam.

Oh, and anything that starts out with "I am a Dominate and you will kneel to me!" or some such bullshit. Uh, no. Check your little fantasy at the door and let's talk realistically or not at all.

Though I did join CM just for the forums, I wasn't expecting to find anyone here..... [:)]

Turn offs: When it's obviously fantasy based, laundry lists (the do me's), full of complaints about fakes and wankers and wannabes (negativity), stating what you will do for them, but saying nothing of what they will do for you (those are usually falling in with the fantasy based and do me's), those dominant profiles demanding instant respect, to address them with honorifics, and instant submission, and those that focus on the roles or how you identify and show nothing of the person behind the role or identity.

The ones I like show them as a person, have a sense of humor, and seem based in reality.

Nothing. That is what I see most time, nothing.

I do not like begging for no really good reason. I am turned off if profile begs for dominatrix. Is okay to beg because cloths pins too tight on your nipples but begging on profile is not something I enjoy.

Lots of negative stuff about fakes and wanna bes on the site, negative stuff in general, nothing in the profile, pictures of body parts, cursing and/or pictures of people giving the finger, pictures with others unidentified, philosophy or policies that are completely the opposite of the way I live my life (excessive conservativism), homophobia, really bad writing, anyone who can't get the difference between dominant and dominate, pictures of any kind of toys or sm furniture, people with nothing but SEX and SM in their profiles, long lists of exactly what a submissive wants done to them, and netspeak. oh yes.. and the 40 year old with 25 years experience.. or any other impossible compbination of numbers like that.. claims of experience amuse me unless they are backed up...

Things I like include pictures that show people doing things they like in life, pictures where I can clearly get an idea of what someone is like, clever profiles, intelligence in general, decent writing, a good attitude, and something in general that catches my interest... hard to say what, but if there is something that I can relate to -- I'm interested generally, at least enough to make some contact.

alysia doesn't really look at profiles unless they have posted something that really catches her eye or imagination. 
 
Have noticed that a lot seem to think a profile is a place to have a whinge about the site and fakes, instead of saying about themselves.... but then again perhaps the fact they are moaning and whinging says it all anyway.
 
This girls own profile leaves a lot to be desired (practically nothing on it) but then again not here to find a dom or catch someone's eye, just here to learn and lurk on the boards :)

CHEERS TO THAT! Yay for teh dorkiness!!! Any mention of RPG'ing or sci-fi immediately makes me smile, too!

Turn ons: Humour, pictures of various spanking implments (since those are my favorites!), a smile - and I once saw a picture of a gal waving to the camera, that was very, very sweet and enamored me to her immediately. I like it when the BDSM checklist is done, elsewise I'm never sure if I'm getting in contact with someone who wants to do tons of anal (not my thing) or someone who wants to tied up (lots of fun!).

I've also found that I am immediately attracted to those who admit that there is a difference between reality and fantasy, and to those who admit that they have a busy schedule. Gives me a good idea on wether or not to be offended if I don't recieve a quick-ish reply.

Turn offs: The whole "I will treat you like dog shit and you will like it" profile, or the flip side "I want to be treated like dog shit and I will like it" profile. So ho-hum, and also a complete break from reality.

My biggest profile turnoffs are the ones that are fantastically unrealistic (at least  for me); and when I see the ones that list every kink available on the site list, I immediately move on.    M

I skim over the younger 20 something profiles. When a 18 year old starts by telling me that they have lots of experience and are wise beyond their years I just shake my head. How the hell can you be so wise when you haven't lived that long. Ait head comes to mind. Flame me if you will but that is my opinion and Im sticking to it.

My page is just ramdom ramblings that I take off of these post. I quit trying to write a profile a long time ago. Would you like to write one for me? As for looking at the young ones. I perve everyones profile. A hobby of mine. I have had young subs. Age is not an issue with me. Attitude is. Some may not like mine but I don't let it bother me. There is always the delete button. It has been used on me many times.

Your to late. I have thousands of those already. You women are not alone in recieving stuff like that. The problem with some people is that they complain about getting that stuff. Me I love to play mind games with them.

I steer away from the profiles that talk about all the fakes on the site or say something like .....well I was here before and it was pointless but I have decided to give it another go but don't expect it to be any different.

Turn ons, nice pics (such as the lovely OP's one), humour, things unrelated to kink in their profile.

The ones packed with aggro about fakes and losers I cruise right on by.  Anyone referring to himself as a lowly or unworthy person---obviously not worth MY time.  The ones entirely composed of sexual or kink needs, HIDE. 

If the person shows a brain, a sense of humour, has a nice picture, has good journal entries...  I don't feel inspired to contact many men, let's put it that way...

I have never done a journal. I think it is because I always tell how my day is doing on here. I don't think that I would have anything interesting to say.
