I am sure this is going to look odd after the fact, but I have a question, and I am curious to see how it is answered. Mind that there is no correct answer to this question, only that I merely want to see the responses in their variables.

Would anyone like to detail what they believe 'submissive service' means?

For me personally it means doing anything and everything that Master requires of me..that means sexually and any other way...be it taking care of paperwork for him, finding directions, washing dishes, ironing his clothes...or whatever else he wants from me.

I don't get to pick and choose what I will do for him.

Gut reaction is:  Anything that is of benefit to Master and our lifestyle.

Mowing the lawn, tending the garden, giving him head, cooking supper, making the bed, doing the laundry, helping with wiring, helping on jobs, welding a canoe trailer

Using any talents i have to make his  (and ultimately our) life easier.

Submissive service....  a service that I perform because it is his will that I do it.

He serves as well, but it is his will that he does it and not mine.

While one can certainly submit and serve, they are not necessarily synonymous.

Granted. However, my question is described within the parameters of the words I chose for a reason. Do you have an opinion based on the specific question I asked, perchance?

^^^^ what Kyra said!
I submit to his authority, so if he wants me to cook dinner I do, if he wants me to sit and talk to him while he cooks dinner, I do that, and if he wants to go out to eat, off we go!  I believe all of these are examples of service within the context of submission.

Forgive me, my first post here, fairly new and inexperienced in the lifestyle. But I would like to give my own shot at answering this question.

I perceive service as that which a submissive/slave does to make their Dominant figure, be it Dom, Domme, Mistress, Master, pride in their submissive/slave. Along with pride comes of course tending to the needs and wants of the Dominant, but also to not just be a complete pushover. Submissives too have things they want fulfilled in the relationship. They have things they want for their Dominant to give to them, ways of treatment that works within the limits/interests of the submissive for example. Service isn't JUST about being a sex toy or housekeeper. To me it involves pleasing both sides of the relation, to make things enjoyable.

Service to me is doing something which helps others/a situation.  Submissive service would be performing service with the intent and/or motivation of submission, as in within an authority dynamic relationship.

As a Domme, I posted a similar question on this board a few weeks ago and had My profile trashed for wanting a slave who serves.  My question was never answered, so I was curious to see how this one was. I only wanted to know from the "other" side, what it is you consider to be service.

Its nice to see that there are still people who do want to please their Dominants with doing what is required of them.  Gives Me hope...

To me submissive service means trying to be responsive to to your Mistress' needs, for example cleaning for Her, in my case babysitting for Her, learning Her likes/dislikes.  to me it's not about sex, only if She desires it.   i hope this helps.

Would anyone like to detail what they believe 'submissive service' means?

Do you have a week? Every time i read this i get caught up on the word "detail" rather than submissive or service. I am wondering if what you really want is a list of duties and tasks that an S performs for their D, independent of sexual pleasure or mental pleasure (or their lack). I have read the posts here and they don't "detail" the service of any S.

I believe that submissive service varies wildly from S to S and from day to day. And to look at it from a non-task oriented view I would say the details of service are things like being available, being punctual, being proactive, being accommodating, being honest, and being true to yourself. There are tons more I could list and waaay more if you want a list of possible tasks. I mean there are entire books written about this topic and i sort of doubt you are looking for anyone to write another one here.

Actually, you have answered exactly what I asked. Tasks are only tasks. I am looking to see the heart behind them.

This is a good question. I used to think of service only in terms of sexual service, or housework. But in reading other people's experiences here, I'm finding that it is a MUCH broader term than I'd initially thought.

What does service mean for me? When I do something for him, whatever it might be, simply because it will make life a little easier on him - wether or not I really feel like doing so, simply because it makes me feel better to have done something for him. That could be as mild as refilling his water glass to something bigger like letting him take me anally.

Maybe that's the key point? The type of satisfaction you get from knowing that you helped?

Service for me is doing what he requests, verses what I think would be of benifit to him. That was one of the first lessons I learned in a Ds relationship. It still is a hard one though, because at times i wish I could serve him, but he might not have need for that at that moment. I am always though expected to keep living my life and doing things that are important.

You are getting a range of answers here happily. I wonder how different the answers are from one end to the other of the continuum of submissive.

I see a service oriented submission as someone who gets pleasure doing chores for someone else.
Submissive service would be doing the laundry and getting some pleasure about knowing he will have a full dresser drawer of socks as opposed to me saying "how did that damned basket get full again? Time to start another load".

Speaking of which, I should be doing more laundry, and no I won't enjoy it!
