What are your favorite punishment tools and why? Are there specific tools that cause vastly greater amounts of pain? I have heard that a cane is extreemely painful, but is it really the worst?

For many, whips and canes and clamps etc... are a reward, not a punishment. I usually punish by withdrawing attention-for example have them stand in a corner or in the closet. If you have a strong relationship with your sub, simply expressing your displeasure may be punishment enough.
As for implements to inflict pain--I have this fiberglass rod about 1/8 inch in diameter and 20 inches long that is absolutely wicked. It was a gift from a sub-who subsequently tried to hide it every chance she had.
Or try putting a few drops of oriental hot chili oil on their genitals-starts warm and gradually progresses to an inferno after about ten minutes. Once its on I don't know how to stop it-soap and water helps some. Anyway it starts to wear off after about 20-30 minutes. When it starts to heat up I like to command the sub not to move--quite a challenge.
Another thing I have tried that is very effective (if your sub is honest) is to ask them what the punishment shoould be.

For me, the best punishements are usually psychological, for far too often pain is very much enjoyed. If pain is needed, I like to use a pain they do not enjoy -- and that varies on the individual. Almost anything can be a punishement, just as they can be a pleasure: it is all in the application.

For me, it is when the brat is blindfolded and I use different things (scissors, clamps, etc.) near her ear, just for the mindphuck of the sound effect. I like to watch her take a deep breath in fear of what she is imagining.[:D]

Oil and water...they don't mix. Try lemon or lime juice, tomato juice, milk, honey or a baking soda paste. I don't know if this will work on genitals - but it definitely works for the mouth, hands and face.

You're right, water will actually make it worse, it divides the chemicals that make it burn and make them spread more.. at least when u eat something hot.. usually the bast cure is milk.. I would say that Natural yoghurt would be the best for soothing the genitals.. and it does the natural flora heaps of good as well..

This, I will have to agree with.

I don't use physical punishment NORMALLY.

Essays (as my slave hates them), standing in the corner while I'm on the phone, chatting, ect...

And the THREAT of physical punishment.

These are normally enough to get my slave to understand that she has done wrong, therefore, I am displeased.

I attempt to keep from the "you have displeased Me" crap, however. she knows when she has done something wrong.

I find the best true punishment comes from my eyes....... and maybe a short word or two. Disappointment and/or anger in my eyes seems to do more 'punishing' to my Sub than any form of whipping or caning.

It's my mind. Inficting emotional pain is the worst.

Tool wise though I have a few things that scares pet the most.

1. TENS Unit all the way UP!

2. A goft shaft made into a switch

3. Needles

4. Bug Zapper

Rather than trying to determine what One Tool inflicts the most pain, a combination of various tools would work best in a continious punishment session.

Psychological wise, there's silence, the dark, and a certain song that my pet can't stand to hear.

I am afraid I have not acquired/devised anything of that calibre. the nastiest thing in my collection (according to her) is a long riding crop without the leather tip, so a kinder and gentler version of the above mentioned item I guess...hmmm, I have a buddy who golfs...I wonder....[;)]

There's nothing "favourite" about punishment and the only "tool" I use is the nearest appropriate corner. If she's deserving of punishment, It means I'm *angry*. When her actions make me angry, I need time to cool down, alone time, and she'll use my alone time by serving her punishment in a corner.

Crops, canes.... pffft! If she's angered me, the one thing she will NOT get from me is attention, not even a caning! The use of any BDSM toys and/or my actively dominating her will only happen when she's her usual good girl; which means I'm not angry.

Severe pain or denial of attention through displeasing your Dom/me - which is more painful to you?

Anything can cause intense amounts of pain. The cane just does it quicker with less effort. You want pain quick and easy, break out the stapler.

Physical punishment for me was never a punishment, unfortunatley my ex-Mistress soon sussed this one out.
i found just being told i had caused Her displeasure was pure agony and the tone of Her voice could reduce me to tears (and i'm not a wimp).
Being ignored for 5 or 10 minutes was also was also an extremely potent threat.

The punishment should often fit the crime, in my opinion (too many to list). I do have a fondness for canes and riding crops, though.

Ultimately, a Master's/Mistress's displeasure should be the worst punishment of all.
