ORIGINAL: MarsBonfire Let's see... Obama goes before a general audiance of residents, to talk about the stimulus, and why it's needed now. Thus, he is accused of dealing in "the politics of fear." Bush, on the other hand, only spoke in front of carefully hand picked audiances, and told us all how the next "smoking gun might be a mushroom cloud." This, after LYING in the State of the Union about yellowcake unrainum sales to Iraq from Africa. I repeat: THAT WAS A LIE. The Bush administration also turned a blind eye to a scientist in a Washington DC government lab who was responsible for mailing anthrax to his enemies. This was proven because the particular strain of anthrax had genetic markers which proved it came from one particular facility, which had a very short access list to the material. The reason they sat on the truth: to spread unreasoning fear through the American populace and to be able to pin it on Iraq. The Bush administration came up with the "terror color code" That way, they could crank up the fear at home with just a news bulliten. The Bush Administration, just before a mid-term election which could have ended the Iraq war early, saving over 2,000 American servicemen's lives, spread the rumor that some major terrorist act was being planned. We were all told to buy duct tape and plastic sheeting. Gosh, I can see your point. Being warned that the mess might get worse if we just keep delying DOING SOMETHING about the economy hemmoraging jobs, and spiking the housing crisis, causing business to close in an ever widening spiral... well, I guess that's just irresponsible. Unlike the sane, careful pronouncements that Bin Leiden was coming to nuke Bugtussle, N.C., and spread bioweapons in every grade school across the nation. Just what kind of kool aide is the Borg Collective (the GOP) drinking these days? You have either been taking everything on the "Daily Kos" as if it were true...or just enjoy making up statements that bare no resemblance to truth. Actually, accord to articles in the media, Bush was not lying about possible sales of yellowcake to Iraq. Of course you would think that the newspapers that carried this story were owned by neo-cons but actually it was in the Washington Post. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39834-2004Jul9.html Before you attack someone and call they a liar, your should really check the facts. It can make you look silly and just full of sound and fury...but not much else. And where did you get that rediculous story about President Bush "turning a blind eye to the guy spreading anthrax"?? Tell me the truth, you are really kidding. Certainly you are not getting your information from Salon.com or The Center for Media and Democracy.
