I was trying to say that some triskelles are symbols of christianity, or pagan background, or Irish heritage. Some are just pretty designs. Mine is a couple of the above with the added benifit of some resemblance to the bdsm symbol intentionally encorperated. Typos? Yeah, they bother me if they get in the way of comprehension, but as I don't view this as a formal venue, I don't worry about the general ones too much. Formal papers? Proofread till my eyes bleed. Here? If someone can understand what I'm talking about and the typos are fairly inoccous ones, I don't stress and don't really harass others about it either. We all have our pet peeves.

This wasn't really directed at you. Truly sorry about that. I was upholding the fact that like your tattoo, not all have to be alike. That it is a person's personal preference. That it is an expression of who they are. What had been said by another person was, "A few of the poeple on the list mentioned above had bdsm emblim tatto's that were incorrect and actually was a symble for something else. It's kind of silly if you ask me to get something ment to be a bdsm symble tatto'd on and it's not even the right symble." And as for the typo thing, I was merely stating that if another person on here wants to criticize one person's lack of knowledge, they should at least look like they have some knowledge themselves. (That also is not directed toward you.)

I like that trisekle....Im still thinkg of getting the BDSM one on my ankel...i want one that show i have pride in my lifestyle but still keep it so...i dont know...the vanilla people i know who disapprove of the lifestyle, like my boss...wont see it and say "hey shes a freak...fire her" lol

Thank you for the clarification I was confused. :) I do think, though, that typos that don't impeed comprehension and are...well...simple ones, like reversing letters (for example, I -always- misspell peircing), while indicating a bit of lazyness, don't make the peson any less able to correct on something he/she does know about. Again, though, we all have stuff that bothers us.

Yup, blatent typos like a word you know how to spell but don't correct anyway is kind of lazy, but typo's where someone spelled something they thought was correct and it was not is really not lazyness if but for the fact someone chose not to use spell check hehehe.

I liked the suggestion of a standard symbol worn on a particular side, which is of a particular thickness to indicate which gender is sought. I remember the first time I read the hankie code, I practically fell out, laughing. WHO can remember all that, and actually utilize it in the face of dozens of scrumptious Dommes & subs?? I know I'm stirring a pot here, and I apologize, but.. I must say that I had the same reaction as Mistress Kris (hope I got your name right) when I read feline's response. Personally, I can't type for shit, but I do tediously go over my posts to try to edit out my errors b/c I find misspelling quite distracting and multiple misspellings annoying. When I combined the poor writing with the content of the post I rolled my eyes and thought nasty thoughts; so I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that maybe Mistress Kris was trying to be 'nice' by tempering her response with a 'do it for the gang' undertone and she doesn't seriously feel that 'we all look bad' just because one person does. When feline responded, with another misspelling, it was clear that the point had missed her. I need to have a constructive point here to justify stirring the pot, here it is. If you dialog with others, it's best to use the same language so all understand one another. If you are not clear in your speech (writing) misunderstandings will occur, and your post will be overlooked, or written off by some because it looks like you don't know what you're talking about. CD So..who's designing this new symbol??

I think the design should be kept simple. Primarily so that any one who wants one will be able to make it themselves from basic components. Maybe keeping to leather as the primary component. This way no one person or group could copyright it or have a distribution monopoly. Carameldomme is definately right in the importants of keeping it simple so that every will know what the meaning is/are. This would work very well for all sexual orientations. By keeping it to leather bands of varying thickness, ie. thin or thick, left or right. Let us keep the collour irrelevant for those who maybe red or red-green collour blind. Left arm = submissive or bottom. >Thick band = interest in male dom or top. >Thin band = interest in female domme or top. >Both thick and thin bands = interest both genders. Right arm = Dominate or top. >Thick band = interest in male submissive or bottom. >Thin band = interest in female submisive or bottom. >Both thick and thin bands = interest in both genders. Let's see a female switch interested in a male partner would wear a thick band on both wrists. A couple interested in each other would then negotiate the details so that everything stays safe, sane, and consenual. And for the benefit of every one let us not turn it into a multitude of colours and design variants like the leatherman hanky code, please. Hugs and kisses

When I was in high school and college, I wore a handcuff key on a silver chain around my neck. This was a great way to make sure I always had it handy, and it became either a conversation topic if someone knew what it was, or a way to jokingly bring it up if I wanted to get a reaction out of a potential boytoy. It wasn't an approrpiate piece of jewelry as I got older and my tastes got more refined. A few years ago my partner took a handcuff key to our jeweler and had them cast a mold and make an exact replica in about 3/4 size (handcuff keys are a bit on the big side, all things considered) in white gold. He added a small diamond to it to add a little style. When I wear it, I always get comments because it's unique. Depending on who is asking about it, I can just say "Oh, it's something unique that was given to me..." or I can say "it's a handcuff key" and take it from there. So far, the only people to look at it and say, without provocation, "Hey, nice handcuff key" are a couple of cops/ex-cops and two rock stars. I guess that about sums it up! Akasha

You're not one to talk Carameldomme, you don't post nick names right it's not "feline" It's FelinePersuasion, and it's one thing to do that but it's another when you talk about poor spelling and then use chat speak for simple words like because. chatspeak is lazier and worse than misspellings and bad typing. well almost. And personally I don't think it's a good trait for Dominants to use chatspeak and abreviations. some of my "spelling mistakes" as people call them are done on purpose, Like and instead of an, It's a personal choice of writing style. Not conventional however not a typo, spelling error, or mistake. Me I ignore people who're so fixated they have to make sometimes lame comments about a certain subjects, or who have nothing better to contribute than a possible flame war. That is, the beauty of the internet, I don't have to pay attention to people's posts. I can choose not to read them in their entirety too. There's a few people here who I regularly skip over because they have nothing to contribute to the thread. Now the on topic post. Now the problem with symbols is when people see one and think oh how neat lets copy it, and they don't even know what they're copying, Do you all remember when it was the in gangster I'm bad hip hop cool ect ect thingt o have mettle chains on your wallet sticking out of your pocket? I was thinking simplification here is everything above all else. What about a core symbol for Dom/mes an exaggerated the braids of a crop or whip? And subs and slaves the links of a chain? Then color code the links and braids I am thinking not much more than three colors in each The pattern itself already sets the Domiant or submissive orientation so the color scheme would set up the rest. Like hetro bi or gay. Beyond that I think its up to the people that ask what the symbol means and what you tell them. I think too many sub fetishes and interests would just make the symbol lose meaning it would just be to let people know you are into BDSM after that it can be customized in designed by any artist Good ideas bad?

Switches would be a split image of braids and links You know what I am going to go ahead and make this copyright free design this week if any one wants to use it its up to you. Then other artists can distort the hell out of it if they want add skulls, flames, meat hooks, feet, vampire fangs that way sub fetishes could be added no matter how wild. Then it’s up to the person displaying the image as to what the secondary symbols mean. The biggest problem with coming up with a universal code to show your lifestyle is this...What about Sadist and masochists? And middles. Not switches (though there would be a problem there too) Say you have a bisexual sado/masochistic middle who will play with either male or female. The twists and turns in WIIWD is limitless. Personally I wouldn't want to wear and arm full of leather bands to show what I am. But that's just me. Whatever is come up with needs to be something that won't draw alot of unwanted attention when one goes about town or to work or is around non-kink friend people. What I was taught was flagging, Dominant carries things like their keys or cellphones on their right side, submissive or slave on their left. It would be nice if you could just carry a flogger or whip or your toy of choice in a miniature version attatched to your beltloop all the time lol That's why I like the triskele. My front plate on my truck has one on it along with an X that has silvery looking O rings hanging from the top corners of the X. Understated and yet I've gotten various comments from others who were into WIIWD and even from a few that were completely clueless. And along these lines, does anyone know if there is a symbol for RACK?
