MzMia -> Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/12/2009 9:11:39 PM)

I am sure many of you saw the newsconference the other night,
in which the Florida homeless woman asked President Obama for assistance.
The woman {Henrietta Myers} spoke about her situation graciously and at
the same time desperately.
She was tired of living in her car.
I knew she would be helped because of her plea on national t.v.
Good news! Henrietta and her son have found temporary housing and her
son has a promising job interview lined up!

Visible drops in the bucket.  Let's see how things work on a macro scale.

So no mention of who actually came forward and HELPED this lady?  It wasn't Obama...

It was Chene and Nick Thompson of Ft Meyers.   And oh yeah, Nick Thompson is a Republican State Senator.

It wasn't "big government"....it was "local people."

Geeze...you all are as bad as the Bushies.

Repub/Demo... they are of an ilk: this was all staged, IMO.

Ya, ANYONE who can put their sob story out on Prime Time is gonna get 'help'.

Now, this reflects goodness on tha big 'O' just how?

You know, you cannot just “enter” an Obama town hall meeting.

...much less GET TO ASK THE MESSIAH ANY QUESTIONS.

This woman has a history.

Apparently, she has been on the dole since 2004.

Her son is a full grown man, who left (was FIRED from) his job in NY in early 2008

They have been receiving Medicaid since 2004.

Edited to Add: Whatchya wanta bet,
that the oh-so-generous REPUBLICAN 'Donor' of said home-for-the-duration,
gains some serious charitable or other Tax Deductions? (in this awful Real Estate market)

Newsflash! Red Alert!
Common sense tells us that many MORE people are going to be

collecting Unemployment, Medicaid, and Welfare, WIC, Section 8 and
any damn thing they can soon!
I predict there will be MORE government assistance programs created/and or expanded, as the need for
them increases!
Red Alert!
Do you expect people that have no source of income to NOT apply

for government assistance?
The numbers will be sky high by the summer.

I expect people to apply.  I know it is hard on a lot of people.

I also expect that a news story would report the WHOLE story.  It wasn't the government that is helping her out.  It was local individuals who stepped up to the plate.

Oh, I get it..."If it wasn't for Obama, she wouldn't have a place to stay.  HE made it happen."   Really, please.  Any time someone gets enough press, B.O. or not, someone steps forward to help.

Haleigh is missing in Florida.  And someone has come forward offering a reward for her safe return.   Was it the government?  No.   Maybe if Obama came by the neighborhood that little girl would magically reappear.....

Obama/Bush/Clinton/Whoever.  They are all power-mad crazies that we somehow believe can make things better.  Instead, they give the appearance of making things better while other people actually figure out how to do it, in spite of the obstacles the well intentioned politician creates, either deliberate or accidental.

Heck, even *I* can walk on water...I've done it several times.    Once, though, I slipped and bruised my elbow.  Damn ice.

---------------
I still believe in a two term limit for ALL politicians....One in office and another in prison, both of equal duration.

The story of Henreietta is sad, indeed.  And what is the "story behind this story" that no one in the media seems to think about? Parents living in cars is not a rare thing, unfortunately, in a country that spends billions of dollars to assist those in need.  My question is "where was the local welfare department that is supposed to provide assistance, vouchers for temporary housing, etc."?

On Long Island where I used to live too many times people were caught up in the red tape of the bloated welfare bureacracy and were not given the help that taxpayers were providing. Where is the outcry?  Instead, once again a politician exploits the needs of a person for a photo op.

Apparently this poor, homeless woman actually owns a home.  Her son and her have pulled this scam before, and it appears they have been milking government assistance programs for years.  Go Obama indeed.  [:D]

The economy is saved. What a relief.

Owner59 -> RE: Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/13/2009 6:10:06 AM)

Truth?

lol

Prediction, when the O`conomy turns around and real economic/regulatory repair and rehabilitation is underway, the cons will 100% most definitely say Obama had nothing to do with it.Or,...(take your pick)this is the bush plan, finally kicking in,[:D]...or,no one has anything to do with the economy, good or bad,it`s all a big mystery(like god),or.... see!there never was a financial crisis![:D]

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/13/2009 6:15:17 AM)

...And if the economy doesn't turn around, Obama will continue to say he inherited it.  It doesn't really matter about the reality of economics, Americans have always blamed the guy sitting in the White House.  The "I inherited this" excuse will only get Obama through the first year.  After that, Americans will expect to see some results.  It doesn't matter if it's fair or not; that's the way it is.

Owner59 -> RE: Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/13/2009 6:29:16 AM)

We`ll see.

That was the bush line for 8 years, only we knew it was BS.He got a great economy and killed it.

At least if Obama makes that claim,it`ll be true. Not that that`s going to matter after another 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 million people lose there jobs, businesses or homes.

He`s been clear that it may not work but that if we don`t do something, the spiraling down could just keep going and going.

I know you don`t always cotton with the republicans on many things, but they are counting on things not improving and betting(100% vote against it) on it.

<<<"As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals"
President Obama>>>

"I, <insert president-elect's name>, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." -- Presidential Oath of Office

The Presidential Oath of Office has historically been taken as meaning the President's first and foremost sworn duty is the common defense of the United States of America, rejecting the President's idiology in favor of our (all Americans) safety.
