WOW , some one finally noticed climate change!. I have been reading national geo and other scientific articles for years ,
I always understood from them that the worlds climate changed.
What do we do ?  Nothing we can do! but some people want to spend billions on studying GLOBAL WARMING.

Nothing.  It's always changed and always will.  (Nice we abandoned the more definitive term "warming" since temps keep going up and down).

But if you wanna buy some carbon credits to assuage some guilt I have a few in my briefcase I can sell you cheap.  Right here next to the indulgences.

Bud...the docs are in...we did it...and we're doing it worse, daily.

My brother is one of those who are convinced that it's "just a cycle".

Could be....but, it's a cycle we're, historically committing ourselves to in unprecedented levels.

Why does it matter?

What does it matter?

Is there any doubt, with all this carbon burning....that we're putting a bunch of crap in the air?

HOW does it matter whether or not we're doing it?

IS there any doubt whether or not we're putting a bunch of crap in the air?

(And by the way....since there isn't....any doubt of that)....

Why don't we just stop.....

(Since we now, in our incredible ability at this point in our evolution....can....).

Why don't we?

No one in the entire history of our planet has ever been in a position to say...."right...let's stop" and still be able to continue in our current progress.

We're the first.

Let's just stop shitting in our beer.

Yeah?

Seems like a decent plan to me.

What docs? have you looked at any of the data that is ANTI Human causes global warming?
I have all kinds of stuff from Nationa Geo on prior ages and the temps then.
The earth is 6 billion  years old, that is 6,000,000,000. If you look at the data that is being used to claim man made global warming they never go past 10,000 years. the Industrial revolution started in the late 1800's.
The earth has been warmer and colder in the past.

The computer models they used are wrong. the temps going up as predicted have not happend. the ocean temps have gone down instead.
My major problem is that "Global warming" has become a religion.
If you dont beleive you are a NUT CASE or Heretic, Proper science invites debate and counter points to prove ones theory as correct or not. Look at how the scientists that say its not mans fault are treated.

Hey, it is a grand case of jobs for the boys, report something with no known solution, except, ''we're working on it'' and you have a job for life. Ever notice how a few years ago, it was headless chicken mode the earth is warming up, then headless chicken mode, 'but some of the planet is cooling down', science moves on theories have to be recanted, all the time someone else is paying for the 'research'.

Yeah, I am cynical, but I just don't jump at every theory that comes out and certainly not when science is allied to politics.

I agree we are dumping too much crap into the air, land and sea, and I am all for keeping the planet clean, but I don't buy this we have altered the planet crap, certainly not on such a scale that we have changed the climate on a global scale.

Mind, all those nukes that have been detonated by test or otherwise over the years, one has just got to wonder at their effect, the harnessing of the atom in earth shattering destructive  power in the hands of men with good intentions, a very scary thought.

I think you came up with a great slogan to define the Global Warming hysteria..."jobs for boys"...but I would add girls too!
I think the Green movement has done a good job of public awareness about cleaning up our lakes and rivers, the air quality in our cities and in our own personal environments.  However, the impact of human cause for the destruction of the planet is silly science at best perpetuated by scientists that know where their bread is buttered...in Washington D.C., where politicans latched on to this as, you say,a wonderful "endless problem with no known solution".

Maybe it is worth thinking about, but all these scientists engaged in climate research, global warming, global cooling, climate change etc, just what would they be doing if there was no problem perceived with the planet. Perhaps a lot of unemployed scientists, or even scientists engaged on something more threatening to human kind, something real and known about and affecting people on a daily basis, but perhaps some things are just not 'exotic' enough.
