Lying about an allergy is never a good idea - and lying about an allergy that contradicts something you love and is clearly stated in your profile is stupid.

I doubt if it's the case here, but it is quite possible to love something you are allergic to. I'm intolerant/allergic/sensitive to a whole range of food pruducts, including several things I loved before I figured out where my chronique fatigue came from, amongst them cheese & whisky.

Now, if i had developed a latex fetish for other people wearing latex, that might very well preceed finding out the allergy. I doubt if I owuld mention it in my profile though, but that fetish wouldn't simply be gone by learning about the allergy.

I still think very highly of cheese & whisky.

In theatre, we use liquid latex to apply facial apliques like scars and other disfigurements. When asking around in the theatre community, there seems to be a higher incidence of latex allergies and sensitivities, which is probably due to the increased use. I bet the same is true of the BDSM scene.

So, even though the CDC says there's only six percent of the population with latex allergies, within specific communities it's most likely significantly higher.

People are trained socially to lie in social settings to prevent unpleasant confrontations and soothe the feelings of other people.  That is likely what happened in this mis-communication.

If the Domme is not interested I have no problem with that and would have no desire to persue it further. The point I do not get is why lie about it? And that is the real question I am asking in the thread.

I found out recently that I have a mild allergy to latex. I had a cut on my arm and my niece in an effort to "help" me gave me one of her bandaids that has latex in it. a few hours later my arm started to burn and itch. Took off the bandaid to look to find that where the bandage had been the area was all swollen and red but where the gauze had been it was normal size. So I ended up with this raised bandaid shaped area on my arm. And knowing me, if this is a mild allergy over time it will get worse, never showed symptoms of a latex allergy until the last two years or so.

Fast reply:

Point one: ignorance. Many people have no idea that rubber equals latex equals rubber. (Never mind that up until WWII most novelists referred to "prophylactics" (condoms) as "rubbers".
Point two: limitations of CollarMe. I may hate the idea of cross-dressing for myself but be tolerant of a play partner cross-dressing. Thus, this person may actually like looking at rubber clothing on kinksters but be unable to touch it. In much the same way that many men love looking at women in corsets but wouldn't think of warping their liver & spleen out of shape by wearing one.

And so on.

I do understand your frustration. Had a blithering idiot contact me just today wanting to indulge his pantyhose fetish and be humiliated by making him wear mine. Except my profile list both pantyhose and humiliation as hard limits! I indulged myself by writing a reply of rather excoriating nature that pointed out his folly in exquisite detail. If he is fool enough to write me again (because he enjoyed feeling humiliated), well, then he gets a silent BLOCK.

Grrrrrr. What do they teach them in these schools?
