i have been hacked --a generic term -- three times, each disappointed suitors. Once in a vanilla chat forum, and i had PLENTY of information on him but did not pursue it. He entered my business email and added 3rd party billing to my phone & cable bills, but the companies cleared it up and have now got passwords and fraud alerts. This is what i have learned from all this -- threats must be direct, immediate, and specifically speak of physical harm. They must be accompanied by a photo of you at home, etc., to establish that the hacker is preparing to physically harm you. In such an event, after much who-ra, you may get a restraining order, which will probably only make things worse. And they can rarely be served since no one knows where the hacker is. The law enforcement agencies -- Secret Service, FBI, and local law enforcement -- will act if a theft of $25,000 occurs. Thefts of lower amounts may also inspire action. But if you think they'll handle harrassment, no matter how annoying, think again. Get a decent firewall; do not give out too much personal information; report threats of harm to CM; and if necessary, abandon Yr ID's and get new ones. Sorry but in my experience, no one's looking out for you but you. candystripper
