So, thanks to my activity on this site and my aquisition of a wonderful slave, I have caught the attention of a real first class, grade-a psycho. There's no reasoning with him, he doesn't seem to have any ability for it. In fact, he really does display all the traits of a sociopath, irrational thinking and deeply flawed logic and problem solving abilities. He's been sending my slave and I threatening emails here on collarme, myspace and now my personal email addressess. The messages also contains wonderful blackmail material (at least he's trying to blackmail both my slave and I), not that he has anything on us, but he does try. :)

So my question is this: Has anyone had a similar problem to this and what did you do about it?

I should add that the Cyber Crimes Division of our police department has been notified and they are looking into it. I wonder what other actions I might take based on others experience.

I am no expert, but isn't this forum largely annonymous? Can this person actually get to you? Internet is full of weirdos and trolls (as well as many fine people), i suggest completely ignoring him. Don't read his post, don't reply to them, don't acknowledge them. No fun for the troll if he can't raise a response.

So let me see if I understand you, you have notified the Cyber Crimes Division to look into this? In other words you
have given reason for the CCD to come to CM and nose around and be in our business?
Why didn't you notify the Moderators here?

I would have to agree with brightspot here, bringing the police into our business was just not smart.

Typically if you stop engaging them, it will escalate briefly and then they will eventually lose interest and go away.

If it is an online only situation, I would not even be concerned with it. Hit ignore and move on. Are emails the only issue you are having?

Here is an official link that covers all aspects of cyber crimes--unless there is some identity fraud, they won't do much as we all probably get our share of threats on a regular basis--however, I get the feeling this may have been a potential suitor at one time and is gilted by your slave's selection of you--

Somehow he got your personal emails, reporting him as spam regularly will help and of course as everyone said, the standard block and ignore. I doubt that the local CCD is interested in CM, in fact I hate to say it, if a local CCD exists, you may get nothing more than a passing glance--

I'm no noob to online communities.

1. This wouldn't be an issue if I knew that my and my slave's anonynimity hadn't been compromised. Which it has. How it has been compromised, I'm not quite sure yet... although I don't think that is this site's responsibility at this point. He found out through some other means I bet.

2. Moderators have been notified and no action had been taken as far as I can tell.

3. If you think that I'll sit by and allow something to happen to her, you're sorely mistaken. It would be far more stupid to not do something about this situation, especially with the threat of bodily harm.

4. Your business is already out here on the forum. If you didn't want the police involved at some point (which most likely this site is already being monitored), you should have never started to participate here. Spare me your "right to privacy" hypocrisy bull on a public forum.

5. I came here looking for help, not admonishment.

I know threats and harassment are typical when being online ensures an element of anonynimity. I've seen my share of that garbage and I usually blow it off. This time it has gotten a lot more personal. I'm coming here looking advice or information on means to protect my girl, especially from those that might have gone through this before.

Hey good luck with it all. I think whoever said that this site and others are already being watched is probably correct. Since there is nothing that would be of interest to any law enforcement group going on here I see no need to worry.
We have all had wierdo's on one site or another. The best thing that someone else said is to ignore and do not respond from the getgo.
It is refreshing to see a Master that really cares for his slave and wants to protect her.

The first thing I would do is see if there is ANY way that someone who has limited information about you/your girl can find your location online.

I'm not sure how your identitity was comfromised, but if it something to the effect of names, I'd check tosee if names or names and cities of location, if searched for, can pull up an address for phone number. People say that if someone has your name and city they can find your address online, but I've found this to be patently false.

Do as many searches as you can, and see if anyone can locate you. If they can, remove the information.

Other than that, I think you've taken all the steps I would, expect possibly allerting the "actual" police. That is, telling the local dept. that someone's threating your girlfriend.

SlaveNation - I sympathize. I faced a similar situation, and the perps turned out to be people I'd never heard of, who were friends of someone else I'd never met, who a third party had lied to about me in order to make them jealous. My contact information had passed through four people's hands without my knowledge. It was horrible.

Here are some things you can do:

First - Check every computer you both use for spyware and keystroke recorders - both programs and physical devices. Change every password you use. Delete email accounts you don't need. Password protect your wireless network, if you use one (do this anyway!) Make a list of all the people who have had unsupervised proximity to your computers - or who may have the stolen information on their own computers - and notify them about about what's happened. Ask them to be on the alert.

Second - Turn on full header view on your private email accounts and use Reverse IP lookup to get information on where the email came from. At least you usually get geographic region, sometimes more. Find out how to do it by googling "Reverse IP lookup".

Third - The police field a lot of spurious e-privacy complaints. If you need them to take yours more seriously than they are, keep calling them. When you hand them a threatening email from your private account, they can subpoena records from the perp's email carrier. Same can happen with the phone carrier if the psycho ever calls you.

Fourth - Creative computer geeks may conduct research faster than the cops - but be aware that some techniques they use can be illegal. You'll want to be very clear on what you do and don't want them to do.

Fifth - Take a deep breath and ask an uninvolved friend to help you assess how in danger you really are. Privacy violations all feel huge but they're not all created the same; a violated email account doesn't mean they have your address, for example. It can be hard to be clearsighted when you or the one you love is being threatened. A trusted friend can help you figure out when & what additional safeguards are warranted.

Sixth - When you've taken all the steps you can to protect yourself, relax as best you can. Thankfully threats like this usually amount to nothing. But you're smart to push for resolution - I don't agree that it's likely to clear up without your help.

P.S. Surely no one above is suggesting that someone in your situation should risk serious injury or death to prevent inconveniencing CM users. How incredibly naive and extraordinarily selfish that would be. How about we assume instead that they misinterpreted your original post?

yes, someone can find both your telephone number and your address online if they have your name. well, as long as your phone number is registered under your name. they don;t even need a city....i am sure the americans have a site similar to ours to look up phone numbers. i use it all the time to look up numbers when i can't be bothered to look for a phone book, and anyone who wanted to be a stalker could do the same thing.

A name, phone number or address and 20 dollars will buy you a whole lot of info on a person. Including financial info, personal info, social security number, names of family and neighbors and ohh so much more.

It happened to me once a while back, when an ex wife of my then partner took a notion to threaten me. All she had was my last name, she got the first name wrong, but was able to manipulate the site. It's extremely frightening. Thank goodness she was a rational woman and was able to be reasoned with. I did however close out all my credit cards, bank accounts, change my drivers liscense number etc. So far so good, but I still feel vulnerable.

Slavenation: feel free to e mail me if you like, depending on what info or site they used to get info, I may be able to help. I contacted the site that she got her onfo from, and had my records blocked. I was fortunate that her ex and myself could reason with her, and it was more a knee jerk thing.

If your number is a cell number, or isn't under your name though, or isn't registered, it's pretty darn hard.

I tried a reverse phone number search on both my home and my cell nubmer and it came up with zip. I've done every search I could think of with my screen name and full name and came up with less.

The advice still stands though. Search for yorself. See how you find youself. Remove the data tha allowed you to be found.

as Maybemaybenot mentioned to me in e-mail there ARE pay sites that track things down more thourougly. I hadn't thought about that, and s/hes right. I do think, though,t hat if someone's willing to spend money to find me, they'll probably find me,

if you've got a house, you can easily be found on the county tax assessor's list. married or divorced, same thing in some states. people do that for a living, find out things about people. it's not that hard to get a lot of information on someone if you want to or need to. and that's for free. if you pay, you get access to school records, job records, utilities, you name it. there is no such thing anymore as anonymity.
