Chimpanzees are seriously intelligent animals... they share 94% of their DNA sequences with humans.

True, and some wind up running countries but the intellect present there is debatable hon.

So a lady lost her fucking hands...Boo the fuck hoo.

There is nothing better than a chimpanzee ripped out of the wild and paraded about for our amusement.  I got to tell you, you dress those fuckers up in human clothes put some glasses on them...And you got Gold, baby!!!!  That right there, boy, is some funny fucking shit.

The way they mimic us is incredible.

Would I rather see a chimp in the wild or one clutching a bong?  Tear down those fucking jungles and dress those motherfucking lil' rascals up and get them in front of the camera where they belong.

They did that in early American film and theatre and called it blackface..doesn't make it any less humane. Animals, as well as humans should not be exploited for laughs or profit, at any cost.  Wrong is wrong, and housing pets to act and be treated like humans is just unjust.  Despite the minor genetic notch missing..they are still animal kingdom and deserve respect, privacy and natural space.

why cant people like this ADOPT!!!!  a HUMAN CHILD!!!!

http://www.worldscutestanimals.com/index.php/2009/02/17/chimpanzee-mauls-friend-while-on-xanax-drug/

The 200-pound animal viciously mauled a friend of his owner before being shot to death by police. Investigators are trying to figure out why — whether it was a bout of Lyme disease, a reaction to drugs, or a case of instinct taking over.
Police said that Travis was agitated earlier Monday and that Herold had given him the anti-anxiety drug Xanax in some tea. Police said the drug had not been prescribed for the 14-year-old chimp. In humans, Xanax can cause memory loss, lack of coordination, reduced sex drive and other side effects. It can also lead to aggression in people who were unstable to begin with, said Dr. Emil Coccaro, chief of psychiatry at the University of Chicago Medical Center. “Xanax could have made him worse,” if human studies are any indication, Coccaro said. Stephen Rene Tello, executive director of Primarily Primates, a sanctuary for chimps in Texas, said it is difficult to say what effect Xanax would have on a chimp, but he noted that chimps and humans have similar physiology. Investigators said they were also told that Travis had Lyme disease, a tick-borne illness with flu-like symptoms that can lead to arthritis and meningitis in humans. “Maybe from the medications he was out of sorts,” Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin said. Herold could not be reached for comment. A woman answering the door at Herold’s home, where drops of blood stained the walkway, would not speak to reporters Tuesday. Conklin said Herold was “traumatized by this very, very brutal attack.” Don Mecca, a family friend from Colchester, N.Y., said Herold, whose daughter died several years ago in a car accident, fed the chimp steak, lobster, ice cream and Italian food.

Because they'd never make it through the vetting system required, the criteria for adopters is stringent. Many people who baby their animals and replace human contact with them aren't able to formulate healthy relationships in any case so the 'dumb' animal draws the short straw every time.

And human youngsters eventually grow up and leave home.

Well, I live in an overwhelmingly republican neighborhood, and you're right - i do get awfully cranky sometimes.

I'm not sure if it's just a british thing, Ven, but youths used to eventually leave home. I see more and more people in their late 20s/30s remaining at home and with zero impetus to gain independence but that's a topic for another thread. You raise an interesting point though.

It seems more common in Europe & Latin America for young people to stay at home until they actually marry and start their own families.

About having chimps as pets, some people want to have the lifelong experience of parenting a youngster.  That seems to be some of the appeal.

and then i hear she fed him an antidepressant and tea beforehand? Then, she was asked if she would have another chimp and do it again.. and she replied she would.  I hope this woman gets some psychological treatment.

I would have been inclined to agree, until I read this -

Sending her to a psychologist would be like taking your broken wristwatch to a transmission repair shop. A total waste of time. This woman can not be repaired.

It's not just a British thing MissMorrigan.  It's happening in every industrialized country.  I see it all the time here, and I've read that it's so common in Japan that they actually have a term for it (I don't recall what it is.).

"Parasaito something-or-other"; whatever the Japanese word is for "children." The term translates to "parasite children."

A lot of that is financial. I;m 37 and moving out for the first time, having worked since I was 16. It's much more difficult for ayounger person today to pass a credit check for  an apartment or utilities. The fact that most landlords are trying to set rents to equal to 80 percent or more of an average income doesn't help unless you are willing to live in high-crime areas and even then, rents are often unworkable. Throw in the fact that sane and reliable roommates are hard to come by and you see why so many of us would rather not bother. I just spent a month looking and had an alcoholic landlord stalk me and another alcoholic wannabe female roommate attempt to start a relationship with me in the same week.....all over the phone without meeting me. No thanks, I'll live with grandma any day!

Maybe she was turned down for adoption. You'd be suprised how difficult and expensive it is to adopt a child, healthy or not.

I'm not trying to hijack my own thread here, but excuse me?  Why would it be hard to pass a credit check unless you've fucked up your credit?  It has nothing to do with being young or old.  You either have good credit or you don't.

Well, someone who's been living at home their entire adult life may not have done anything to create good credit.  I don't know how tenant credit checks are tabulated, but if they go by credit score, someone who's never had to borrow money may not make the grade.

Panda, as far as I know they only check to see if you have BAD credit.  At least that's always been the case with me.  You only get bad credit from not paying your bills.  As long as you pay your bills, you're credit will be fine.  You don't have to borrow money to establish good credit.
