And, now I understandy why I have had trouble meditating, I need to ground myself first. I have had some training, years ago, but, erm, got too addicted to the highs. Ahem, I think you know what I mean. But, it can wreak havoc upon one's nervous system. So, I shall do some of the grounding exercises I learned instead of being . lol

This is an ancient concept.  Prana is sanskrit for "breath"  and most Eastern religious and/or philosophical/metaphysical systems hold it in very high regard.  In truth, it is so deeply ingrained that is is no longer metaphysical but part and parcel of the whole foundation of their society.  The Chinese call it 'qi', (or in some provinces, 'hei') the Japanese call it 'ki', the Koreans call it 'hanja', The Veitnamese and Thai call it 'khi.'  You get the picture.  George Lucas call it 'the force' hehe... it is all the same thing, really.

It is the flow of life energy through ourselves and the world we live in.  It cannot be quantified, so as 'real' as it may be, there is no scientific way to even prove it's existence in a way that most Western minds can understand, nor can we prove that the various techniques which have developed over the millenia for manipulating it actually do anything, although things like Kirlian photography do at least provide us with empiric evidence of it.  Still, the longevity and pervasiveness of the concept makes it difficult to just remove it from consideration entirely.  I can say with confidence that Yogic pranayama exercises and such do seem to do something beneficial for us.  Reiki, accupuncture, and accupressure are all rooted in this concept and Tantric sex is impossible without an understanding of how prana works.  From my own experience, spending time working with actors in exercises that deal with prana has had a profound effect on their work, whether it is a placebo effect or not (I suspect not, but skeptics abound, especially here in CM, so I am careful to qualify my statements about it).

And now, apaparently, there is also a form of vampirism that deals with it.  Well, I have to say, that of all the approaches to vampirism that have existed since it came into vogue, this is probably the most enlightened, and one which may actually be worth doing a little extra reading to find out more about.

Thank you so much for starting this thread. I'm sorry I can't be of help to you, but you have given voice to the energy I have been playing with. I would have visions of a Mistress Vampire sucking my lifeforce, not my blood. I did not know there was a name for it in the world of BDSM. I have used the term 'psychic vampire' for emotionlly draining customers though.

I have learned tantra, read up on kundalini and even had an experience with a succubus, though I was trying for an incubus. lol Now... another tool to use! Thanks again!

Not really.  When you or your master feed during sex, it's the same thing.  Succubus/incubus = type of pranic vampire that uses sexual energy
