::pulling up a comfy chair:::   tell me more !!

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 9:11:42 AM)

what exactly are you wanting to know?

VampiresLair -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 9:12:48 AM)

Ah,yes, the psyvamping.
Quite nice, but not something I actively do. Sang (blood) is my active part. Psy just sort of happens.

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 9:15:12 AM)

The two don't have to be separate.
:: blushing ::

VampiresLair -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 9:16:52 AM)

They dont have to be, no, but for me personally, I cant really think about turning the psy on and off. I feed at work and church and everywhere. The sang, well, obviously is different.

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 9:23:03 AM)

Lol, yes. That would be something like holding your breath i imagine.

MsFlutter -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 9:25:00 AM)

Is it part of a larger picture? (I cringe at the idea of calling it a skill but what is the right word?) Is there something here to be recognized/developed? Or is it just a 'thing' that has proven useful a couple times in my life and exists as its own little oddity? Is it rightfully referred to as some variant of pranic vampirism or just a quirk?

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 9:29:37 AM)

It is just a part of some people. Like being an artist is a part of me. i would be less than i am if i could not create. If it goes unreckonized in folks that have it, the person is illy effected by not learning how to live with it, benifit from it,,, like a sence or motor skill.

Is this within the realm - does any of this sound related? Its not like I could ever really ask somebody. I'm fascinated by this topic and would love to hear from those who have insight.

You're psychically sensitive.  Most energy workers and shamen are to varying degrees.  However, it doesn't mean you're a pranic vampire.  There are a lot of interpretations of what it means to be a vampire.  However, what I have found to be the only common denomonator is how doing energy work (or not doing it) affects physical health.  For those of us who consider ourselves vampires, we feed because we need.

Most people get the energy they need to be healthy from food, rest, and routine interaction with friends.  Vampires don't.  We still eat, sleep, and like to have fun with people, but our energy needs are greater than the average person.  If we don't take energy from an outside source, we get sick.  As an example, a friend of mine was born with a heart defect.  By the time she was six years old, she'd had open heart surgery.  In college, she tried to go without feeding because she wanted to see if it was all in her head.  After a couple of months, she collapsed in class and ended up in the hospital.  The medical staff asked her if she had a will and wanted to know how to contact her next of kin.  She wasn't expected to leave the hospital alive.  She called her donor to come to the hospital and she fed.  A few days later, she walked out in perfect health.

For most of us, it's not that dramatic but it's still real enough to impact our lives.  We might sleep for 12 hours without feeling rested, experience migraines, nausea, or any of a number of physical ailments.  Once we take energy from a donor, all of those ailments go away.  If that resonates with you, then it's possible you're a pranic vampire.  If not, then it's more likely you're another type of energy worker.  There are plenty of people who work with energy who aren't vampires.  People who practice reiki and tai chi are the ones most people are familiar with.

aravain -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 11:10:17 AM)

I'm curious to know if you would still call working in this way (literally feeding off the energy) an act of vampirism?

I mean, I do. I'm not technically (by your or my definition) an actual vampire of any type, however I have 'fed' from others in various mediums, and occasionally do without meaning to (though that's mildly more connected to an empathic link I can't seem to always control). I would consider this an act of vampirism, despite it not being for any sort of energy 'sustenance.'

Would you?

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 11:18:15 AM)

That's a complex question.  Yes, it is an act of vampirism.  But it doesn't necessarily make you a vampire, as you pointed out.  Anyone can learn to take energy from another person.  It's not difficult.  However, there's a subtle difference between the act of vampirism and the state of being a vampire.  The vampire community is made of of a lot of people who identify with the archetype of the vampire for various reasons.  However, there's a difference between those of us who do because we must and those people who do because they can.  Does that make sense?

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 11:18:37 AM)

i've always seen empaths more like mirrors, they are their own fascinating breed.

I'd compare empaths to tuning forks instead.  As an empath myself, I'm not really a flat surface that reflects.  It's more like I absorb and then resonate with other people's emotions.  It feels like I'm vibrating and it's jarring at times.  It can suck and not in the way that gets gold stars.

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 11:30:12 AM)

yep, that sounds a lot more like the girl i was thinking of. but she's not a vamp. just another energy worker [;)] lol, can't use the "w" word anymore today.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 11:35:31 AM)

'W' word?  What, wombat?  [;)]

Your wombat girl needs to learn how to filter if she doesn't already know.  It's better than shielding because it lets in only the energy you want and keeps out the energy you don't.

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 11:45:40 AM)

Wombat girl will forever be a mystery to me. Claimed she couldn't shield at all and depended on her husband to shield her. But whatever works for them, i guess.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 11:52:35 AM)

Some people don't have the aptitude for shielding.  *shrug*  I don't shield well but I learned to filter early -- like when I was four.  I've got killer filters.  It takes the equivalent of an energetic atom bomb to get past them.

FelineFae -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 12:02:41 PM)

i see the mundane shield themselves all the time, but normally only if someone has hurt them. i don't think they know they're doing it. maybe it's an instinct.

aravain -> RE: Pranic Vampirism (2/18/2009 1:07:58 PM)

~FR~

Eh, your fascination is my annoyance, sometimes [:D] I'd agree with the tuning-fork analogy

It doesn't help not always being in the 'right' mind (which means that it then goes wonky and crazy and drives me absolutely bonkers because I barely have the control over my own emotions enough to filter out others'. Have you ever felt simultaneously depressed and scared because your husband just beat you, angry because your wife 'is a bitch,' lonely because your SO is very far away, and joyous because you just won a particularly difficult level of some video game? This was one of my most extreme moments (when I was six or so), but it's a good illustrator)... but I've been working on that, too. I used to be much more capable with it, but I've sort of let it slide into an upkeep area where I'm usually able to deal, just not always when I can't keep myself in check at least cognitively.

I'm usually drawn to people who are 'natural shields' (as I call them) because they're much easier to get along with.

i can tell you its instinct because if its not someone that im use to invading my energy bubble like hell are they going to because i have many locks to help change that so yea its instinct its a form of protection :D
