Just finished If Nobody Speaks Of Remarkable Things by Jon McGregor. Loved it and would recommend it to any one. What are other people reading that they would recommend?

Gentlemen of the Road by Michael Chabon. I didn't think he could top his Yiddish Policemen's Union but this does. Truly excellent.

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. Obviously SERIOUSLY researched, without being dry.

I was being serious, there are times I have been known to read the telephone directory, even the yellow pages, that one has pictiures, so even better. The thing is I am aware of what services are around, because I have read about it in the directory, but it is with me, I can never remember phone numbers, but spend ages searching for something I have seen but can never remember where.

Salinger The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini (another must) Silly wotsit that I am, forgot to add current: A Thousand Shattered Suns by Khaled Hosseini The books previously mentioned are ones that I keep picking up at various intervals to read excerpts/events within that captivated me in some way.

I'm partial to anything by James Lee Burke. I also love PG Wodehouse (bizarre, silly, escapist confections about the foibles of the British upper class that never was).

Just read, Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. Fun read if you like dysfunction....had it for awhile finally got around to reading it. Some of it is laugh out loud.

The Yiddish policeman’s union was wonderful! I got the audio book as well which has a wee interview with the writer where he explains how the idea came about. The Stand was good and left me with a nagging paranoia every time a flu epidemic kicks off.

Right now my reading is all tied up* and not in the sexy way* with school text books, however I am reading a book called the wealthy barber, and it's a financial planning book, only it's written in story book format, so it's hopefully more interesting and fun to read and learn from than cut and dried boring numbers. quote: ORIGINAL: stagerle Just finished If Nobody Speaks Of Remarkable Things by Jon McGregor.
