is real simple! if right-wing governors and other politicos hate Stimulus bill, they just not take money!!!! Simple, no? Let them stand for truth, justice, and Amurkin way! Fuck-a-doodle-dooo!

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/16/begala.carolina/index.html

"If Republican politicians are so deeply opposed to President Obama's economic recovery plan, they should refuse to take the money. After all, if you think all that federal spending is damaging, there are easy ways to reduce it: Don't take federal money."

"Gov. Sanford can lead the way. South Carolina should decline to accept any federal funds for transportation, education, health care, clean energy or any of the other ideas President Obama is advocating to fix the economy. And the rest of the GOP can follow suit.

Justice Louis Brandeis famously called states "laboratories of democracy." So let's experiment. Gov. Sanford can be the guinea pig. His Palmetto State already gets $1.35 back from Washington for every dollar it pays in federal taxes, according to 2005 numbers, the latest calculated by the Tax Foundation, a nonprofit tax research group."

And it gets better!

"But cutting taxes on corporate profits is of little utility when there are no corporate profits to tax. And precisely with whom would Gov. Sanford cut these miraculous trade deals? In case he hasn't been watching CNN, the entire world economy is in the tank.

If cutting taxes for the rich and for big corporations and promoting foreign trade alone could energize the economy, we wouldn't be in this mess. But maybe Gov. Sanford is right. Let's keep our federal money -- give it to states where the governors will actually put it to good use. We'll let Gov. Sanford try his plan, we'll try President Obama's plan.

And let's see who's in a better position after twenty-four months."

Okey-Dokey, Republicans. Let's try Republicanomics in South Carolinas for 2 years, and see what happens! OK?  Meantime, Red states don't get more back than they put in. Fair enough?  No more Socialist communism welfare for red states. Fair enough?

HK I want some of whatever you're smoking. This is a great idea but realistically nobody refuses money.

What's more if you remember years past when certain government agencies were scrambling to spend their budgets before the fiscal year ended so that their budgets wouldn't be cut ? I think something similar would happen here. In other words if I don't take it someone else will.

A fine idea in theory, if we were on a different planet or something. I just don't see it happening here.

Not as "easy" as the way you suggest...but just maybe, after 24 months of liberal control of Congress and the Presidency, "da bums get thrown out" of the House and some in the Senate in about 21 months.  I can't wait to vote in the primary against Arlen Spector...and will support any efforts to beat Maine’s Susan Collins and Olympia Snow.

So, the great Obama doubles Bush's deficit in two or three weeks, he digs a hole so deep that our grandchildren and our great grandchildren will probably never be able to pay it down.

Where's that money going? To wasteful pork projects, to Obama's pals at ACORN, to Union Lobbyists (who just happen to be among Obama's biggest campaign contributors!)

Everywhere you look there's free government money falling from the sky, everyone's getting gobs of cash just for voting Democrat.

Republican governors had better take some of that "free money" because the children and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren living in their states are going to have to pay that "free government money" back through higher taxes and horrendous inflation just like the children and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of every Democratic run state will.

And after all, Obama's not giving his own cash away, is he. Not like the Democrats seem to think he is.

About as fast as I can say "Obama's wars now" or "he's sending in more troops."

So what's your point?

My point is that you weren't crying against 'pork' when the previous government puts its hands deep inside your pockets to finance the most porcine war there has ever been.

Had you complained about pork then, your current indignation might come across as more genuine, instead of which it sounds like nothing but partisan fear-mongering.

Is that an attempt at deflection?

Good luck with that because the subject is Obama and his so-called "stimulus" package!

Gobs and gobs of money for lobbyists.

Mount Porkulus.

The subject isn't me, and it isn't Bush - but nice try though!

Well, go on then! Do you think that representatives who voted against the bill shouldn't receive a share of the pork? Perhaps they ought to go on a vegetarian diet (or at least, a kosher one).

Read post #9 kitten, I already answered that.

Where's the change? Try looking under the bus...

If we do not take the money, does that allow us to be excluded from FIT until it is all paid back?

Bullshit.

I've posted many times, and I have always said that fiscally Bush was very Liberal - which was one thing I couldn't stand about him.

But why the sudden, intense desire to change the topic, kitten...

Is your guy embarrassing you that much

Why should I be embarrassed by Obama? I am not married to him :-) .  The government's doing what it's got to do. It's like having a tooth pulled out: nobody likes it.

I see nothing wrong with investing public money in public infrastructure: the GOP who are crying blue murder over this will benefit from the investments, whilst looking like they didn't want them. They're politically shameless: they should get their knickers back on, frankly

I'm not altogether sure what you propose in lieu. What you call pork, I call necessary public investment. In any event, time will tell :-) . I am cautiously optimistic, while you tear your hair out for nothing *shrug*.

Oh... and I make it all about you, because you're irresistible .
