Too true.

MasterShake69 -> RE: New York Post Cartoon: Is Obama the chimp... (2/23/2009 12:37:44 AM)

AT the signing ceremony unlike past ones that other presidents hvae had, Obama didn't have any members of congress.  He took full credit for the work of others.   I wonder how long actions like that last without a backlash among members of his own party ;)

The Post also has numerous articles referring to "Obama's Stimulus plan."

MasterShake69 -> RE: New York Post Cartoon: Is Obama the chimp... (2/23/2009 12:45:00 AM)

so I am not allowed to respond to liberal posts because its considered keeping the thread alive?

Since you`re asking,...no.[;)]

Seriously,if one is going to complain that a story gets more coverage then is deserves, they shouldn`t keep talking it,post after long post after longer post.

There`s no evidence that "THE MEDIA" ginned up this story. The paper did a fine job of fucking themselves without any help.

The cartoon, the ham handed non-apology and obfuscation by the paper`s managers and the revisionist history/vigorous backpedaling are what made this a sexy story.Not,<drum-roll>"THE MEDIA".....

EAST PEORIA, Ill. - President Obama's stimulus plan may be good for Caterpillar, but its chief executive says the company will probably lay off more staff before it rehires any of the more than 22,000 employees it already plans to cut.
http://www.nypost.com/seven/02122009/news/politics/you_call_that_a_tax_break__154810.htm

WASHINGTON - Economic stimulus legislation at the heart of President Barack Obama's recovery plan is on track for final votes in the House and Senate after a dizzying final round of bargaining that yielded agreement on tax cuts and spending totaling $789 billion.

Let's rap this thing up.  The Post states that the chimp should not be construed as being Obama....Yet in many of their own news stories the stimulus package is referred to as Obamas' Stimulus Plan.

Now you believers are going to have to backtrack once again....Now you are going to have to swallow some more crap and say...."Well, in this instance it wasn't referring to Obama."

Either way it sucks....it sucks to defend something like the Post.  I don't and never have believed them...I have provided the proof that they should not be believed.  As a matter of convenience and to avoid have to "man-up" and further ramifications they try to distant themselves from the cartoon.  Those without the ability to question simply accept their response.  I look for truths that will undermine their apology as well as their stance on the interpretation of the cartoon that they chose to run...I'm sure if I went deeper into their archives I could have found more references to the Post referring to "Obama's Stimulus Plan."...It was not 100% that they used this terminology. But it was apparent that any avid reader of the post would easily make this connection(Monkey -Obama) based on the Posts' own words...End of story?

Spin this how you may.  Don't acknowledge the probable and most logical solution.  Hold firmly to your political bias.  It already has allowed a black president to be elected. It has allowed the Dems to control Congress....Your inability to bend and to moderate opinions in the face of facts will be the parties undoing.  I am not exagerating.  This is not a leap.  One extreme will always cause the public to head towards the other side.  It's now the Dems turn to fuck things up.   I have no doubt that they will do a splendid job of it.  However, the last eight years is a daunting act to follow.

Check and mate.

well o59 I'm not keeping this alive ;)  domiguy is and now the NAACP is doing there protests so its keeping the story in the headlines.  Where were the NAACP when Ms rice was subjected to racist cartoons??  where were there protests or requests for an apology from the author? should be easy to find with a google search, right?? ;)

Oh Domiguy the article was quoting the words of  Gay Talese.  and the other one an executive of caterpillar.  Just because they called it Obamas plan and the post quoted their words doesn't mean Obama wrote the plan.

keep flopping on the ground pretending to be fouled, it not working with me ;)

If the Post had manned up sorry and said and acted like they were sorry, this would be last weeks news.

The Post is not a victim here. They are the perp.

MasterShake69 -> RE: New York Post Cartoon: Is Obama the chimp... (2/23/2009 7:17:21 PM)

why should they have to follow that standard???? when liberals who do the same to Ms rice have no standards to follow at all.
what the post should do is get rights to the Ms rice cartoons make by liberals and print them on the front page with a headline...where was the outrage by the NAACP then???
Make the NAACP confront there double standard with something that wasn't debatable.

Just don`t take the bait.

He`s being obstinate and willfully ignorant on purpose,to get a rise out of you(us).

He`s not playing fair and should be overlooked if he doesn`t want to participate in the discussion.

Today I heard their dear leader Rush, referring to the budget as Obama`s,as well as to all the economic plans as President Obama`s.

Sorry guys, can`t have it both ways. It`s either Obama`s or it isn`t.

Does all the BSing from ya`ll mean that you won`t criticize the President over the stim-plan from now on?I mean sense it`s the congress` plan and all.[8|]

Yes, it does appear that your contributions to this thread were much about nothing.

Not being able to distinguish that different racial implications apply to whether one is black or white....Suggesting that Obama didn't write the stimulus bill...Even though the "dead Chimp" in the cartoon is suggested to have written it...So when the Post refers to the Stimulus plan as Obama's you suggest that it is still about nothing.

You don't appear to have the ability to discern that if a citizen makes a threat against the Prez that actions will be taken and that these types of threats do not fall within your 1st amendment rights.

Much ado about nothing.

Owner59 -> RE: New York Post Cartoon: Is Obama the chimp... (2/24/2009 12:15:31 PM)

The 1st amendment is alive and well.

The Post has every right to make fools of themselves .New Yorkers have the right to respond.

Seems like it`s the Post supporters that are interested in quashing dissent.

Well, this certainly takes this to a new level of... ~shrugs~ something. I'm sure there is a word, but damned if I know what it is right now. You've left me gasping for "logical air," and there is none in the room. Owner59, you're taking notes, right?

> The chimp is not caricatured or labeled as an African-American.

> The chimp is not caricatured or labeled as President Obama.

> The cartoon is based on a current event where police killed a chimp.

> The cartoon borrows from a cultural metaphor (that I got) of what monkeys could do with typewriters.

> The cartoon refers to the Democrat Stimulus Package as if the chimp had written it, but represents no one individual. Since in real life only one monkey was shot, only one monkey was used in the political cartoon.

> People with an agenda, or a sensitivity, or both, to racial stereotypes of apes/monkeys being used to caricature people of color, took offense.

> The NYP stated that they are mistaken, and apologized to almost all of the people who demonstrated that they took offense. The only people not apologized to are people, such as Rev. Al Sharpton, who are trying to make social, racial, and political hay out of this.

> Most people who took offense, are not accepting the apology. They have that right.

So, your "analogy" does not fit. I think your post is self-serving.

Go ahead. Be offended. But take responsibility for taking offense. It is your world view, experiences or expectations, that lead you to make the assumption that you did. Take responsibility for then attempting to impose your sensibilities where they were not intended.

As I said before, let us hope and pray for a day when a similar cartoon only offends PETA and the SPCA.

He's handing out signs to the homeless and needy that, referring to the stimulus, urge East Siders to share their wealth. The signs, taped to cardboard shirt boards (from Talese's laundered shirts) read, "Please support Pres. Obama's Stimulus Plan. Begin right here . . ."
