doll -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/26/2009 5:27:44 PM)

I for one can see careless decisions being made on the part of both men and women, dominant and submissive, vanilla or lifestyle.  Everyone makes mistakes in their life at one time or another either due to naivety or poor judgement, but it isn't based on intelligence, I have seen some highly intelligent people make stupid mistakes, but it seems that some people only point out what they disagree with.  One poster stated about "people in their 50's acting like teenagers", who cares how they act if it isn't affecting your life.  If my mom, who is in her 50's, wanted to go out and have a great time with people half her age, I wouldn't balk and say that she was being stupid or reckless.  I would let her live her life, as she lets me live mine in my 30's, but then, I wasn't raised to cast any judgement on anyone based on how they live or act.

We in this lifestyle talk about how open-minded we are, people are fine with others wanting to beat someone, lock them in a cage or tie them up if that is their kink, but some look down their nose if someone wants to date a younger person, regardless if it is 5 or 20 years younger, that is their life to live and be happy in.

I do agree with the OP, people shouldn't be so careless with their own life, if you see red flags, take heed, they are probably a great indication that something is definately wrong.

While I totally agree that s doesn't stand for stupid, after reading some of the latest posts, I don't think it always stands for smart either.

Vendaval -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/26/2009 8:42:00 PM)

Yeah, and it should not stand for "slob" or "slovenly" either.
Just remember, you can't cure stupid.

This is just a friendly little reminder.
I feel it needs to be said.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.
Seriously, people, put yourselves in check.
As they say, ignorance is a lack of education.
And the clock begins on either the deletion or the moving of this thread.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding the content in your post, sorry.  If you're saying "don't be stupid", I don't think there needs to be a thread about that.  It's kind of an ongoing wish of pretty much everybody on the planet that everybody other than them needs to "be smarter" or "stop being so dumb".  Your little rant just shows that you can't contain your judgmental thoughts, as the rest of us are doing.

Stop making stupid threads.

Stop making stupid threads.

LOL.  Tell you what.  I promise to do that, as soon as it's an equal agreement among the posters.

ETA....  If you think the "judgmental" thing is an issue, you might want to run a quick search on what I've said on that prior as well.

I guess you can't contain your judgmental thoughts either! hence your post.

My experience is that people in the lifestyle are no more, and sometimes much less, openminded than anyone else; except directly within their (usually very narrow) field of D/s and/or BDSM.  Just look at the general attitude towards male submissives by just about everyone except for those very male submissives themselves and most female dominants.

Edited to add:  I suppose I should include the fact that I have my own (already very public) prejudices against the vast population of male submissives.

Common sense isn't.. unfortunately.

TheLovedOne -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/27/2009 6:11:51 PM)

Sadly Voltaire so many moons ago said it so well.....
“Common sense is not so common.”
