Saw a thread on something about corsets and lots of people suggested the Spanx name brand to squeeze in the parts when going out.  This of this question of someone single, not married or with a sig. other (because they already know who/what they are going home with).

If you are a man who wears a girdle, a toupee, or platform shoes, or a woman's hair that has color/weave or extentions.  Lets say you need Proactive for acne for a lifetime, you have 6 toes ...stuff like that.

When do you tell your date?  First date, second, third? (assuming you haven't screwed them the first night and they already saw what you were hiding when it your gutt flopped at some motel).  Do you tell before you meet?  Do you wait until you play and they pull your hair and it comes off in chunks? Do you pretend not to notice a guy you thought was 5'9 takes off his shoes and he is umm shorter?  What if realizes after 3 months that he doesn't like redheads after your blonde has washed out? Oh oh.

When do you tell a potential...or want others to 'get real' and disclose what they really look like? Do you never tell them and hope they don't mind by the time they find out?

this is the reason i never wore a padded bra.

Actually...if i was seeing someone and the relationship was progressing to the bedroom stage and he fessed up that he wore lifts in his shoes, a waist clincher et al he would hear "so what?"

Seriously...i do not sleep with height, or a waist size...i sleep with the man.

Not until you are both getting naked and the dentures start to fall out while French kissing.

And don't forget the caramels for dessert.

Seriously, if someone asked me out, they've already seen me without much enhancement.

Be honest. The least appealing was if I went on this dinner date n the person was all hip n cool....but then we were gonna fuck and the person gets naked n multiples in size and has moobies and dentures and and and and I mean seriously...why can't people just come straight forward eh? It saves a LOT of trouble and awkward moments.

ewww. I am sure it happens.  A guy friend of mine told me about the extentions thing.   He raved and raved on how gorgeous her hair was, it was one of the appealing things that he chose her for... she smiled and loved his compliments.  A month later he actually ran into her by fluke and voila...it was goners lol.  He said omg 'what happened??'  She was quite flustered and he was quite disappointed she was such a fake.

The denture thing has never happened to me.  I usually ask upfront if they have their own teeth and want to see a picture of them smiling.

If he loved her hair so much and it mattered that much in his opinion of her, why does it matter if it was growing out of her scalp or glued in?  If someone has some dentures and they have a pretty smile, why does it matter if they're sticking out of their gums or held in by Fixodent?  People truly are shallow hypocrites.  They want perfection but don't want to know that it's not natural "perfection."

If everyone stopped doing everything that wasn't 100% real (curling, cutting and coloring hair, manicures, dentures, makeup, figure shaping clothing, etc.), the world would be full of some worse looking people, for sure.  Why is it wrong to enhance what one has?  As long as they don't outright lie about it, I don't see it as being deceiving at all.  It's not like you have to walk up to someone as soon as you meet and say "If you like my hair, my teeth, my tan, my boobs, etc., don't 'cause it's all fake."  If you want someone looking perfect, you better be ready to accept that it might not be all natural.

Well I find it amusing that post-modern men are doing even half of the grooming routines that women have been dealing with for years.  If you want to keep it simple just go for the real live dolls since it is all fake but you know that up front and pay in a lump sum.

is this not a lie or hiding the truth?

She had plenty of opportunity to his face to say 'well, yanno, it is manufactured hair'.  To sit there and bold-face absorb compliments on something that is false is not exactly forthright.

Unless they are a hockey player, I'd find it unattractive because they didn't obviously take the time to take care of their teeth and mouth throughout their lifetime.

For someone who is so angry at my comment about being somewhat being caught being 'au naturelle' so seem to have a distaste for people who don't fix themselves up.

No one gets anyone perfect.  But if for example a man says 'wow, you look incredible, so fit, so thin, you must work out!!' and you ARE wearing the Spanx and without it your belly would fall over your pants...is that not someone pretending to be perfect who is actually in denial therefore a liar by proxy?

quote:

People truly are shallow hypocrites. They want perfection but don't want to know that it's not natural "perfection."

Is it not also shallow for the person who decieves just as equally by playing down imperfections so drastically?  If they didn't want someone who has a drive to chase perfection...then why do they bother to take the time to try to achieve just that?  Is it appropriate then to blame to 'chaser' or the fraud?

Why would I try to hide how I look? I may be a fatter than I like, and I may not always like my hair... I may not like my voice (I feel like it's a minor 6th higher than I'd like it to be :() but I don't understand the ideas behind masking your true appearance or anything else.

I mean, who really cares?

Good lord. I would be screwed if I went all natural.

I shave, I wax, I dye my hair, and put omfgtoomuchshit in it, I wear corsets on a very regular basis, I have little clip in hair extentions in multiple, unnatural colors. I wear heels that make me 6', I wear fake nails on occasion when I feel like dealing with them. I do not go out without at least a little bit of makeup, and probably spend way too much on makeup as it is.

I could care less if people think I'm shallow for changing my appearance. I like the way it turns out, everyone else can go die in a fire. As far as hair extentions... a girlfriend of mine had them. She told me not to pull my hair, and I did not, and everyone was happy. If a play partner had dentures... well I suppose we wouldn't go biting on eachother quite as much.

If any of us went "au naturel" then the resulting body odors and hair in all the wrong places would quickly take us out of the dating pool.

HUGE assumption here!

many things can cause the loss of teeth... illness.. accidents... being punched in the mouth.  are you into their teeth or the person?

I'd take the hockey player.  That is hotttttt.

Chances are higher it was from tooth decay or because for some it is cheaper/less painful than constant root canal or other maintenance.

to some yes, some women (and men) are naturally not hairy and don't need to shave at all, body odour well if you are talking BO uhhg sweat but regular evaporation is cured by soap and water.  That is normal maintenance not something above the top that fools anyone.

Either do I, but hiding flaws is a multi-billion dollar industry so obviously a LOT care.

Uk newspaper the other day said that scientists were almost completed work on growing teeth in the lab.  Wonder how much that would cost if it were up n runnin'.

In regards to the tooth thing- having grown up with a mom in the cosmetic dental industry, I'm obsessive about teeth. it's the one thing I'm super shallow about. If I'm going to spend $700 every six months to have my teeth zoom whitened, I expect the person I'm with to at least go to the effort of getting dental implants if they're missing teeth. Seriously, I have major issues surrounding teeth, they're the one area that I demand perfection.

As for the hair extensions, I don't see the issue. If a girl's hair is super long and has lots of body, I just assume extensions until I'm informed otherwise.

And with shapewear (like spanx, etc), it's not really supposed to drastically alter your body shape, it's to improve the appearance of clothing. Why would anyone wear that on a date where they didn't anticipate needing clothing for the entirety of it? That stuff is a bitch to get on and off.

I agree.  My dad is a retired dental surgeon, never had the whitening but me and the offspring got all the pearlies coated in that plastic junk for extra protection.  Never had much dental work aside from that, floss is your friend.

No one is clear on an answer here though, when they want to be told or when they tell.

I guess it falls along the same lines of lying about a picture and showing up as a totally different person.  Some don't mind, others run screaming.  All of a sudden, people who would normally find a fraudulent picture offensive...are in denial that using 'quick fix' beauty-altering materials is kinda the same thing.
