I have known enough servers at local Denny's that if the place was slammed and there was a big group of us we would sometimes refill our own drinks.

I worked at a pizza hut quite a few years back.  That particuliar pizza hut raised the delivery charges, rather than upping the price of the pizza.   The drivers never got the delivery charges.  They got the minimum the company was legally obligated to pay them, plus their tips. It doesn't always work that the delivery charges are what the drivers get.  I try to tip them at least 15 to 20%.

domiguy... It is extremely difficult when I go to Red Lobster to decide what to eat. It's just all sooooooooo goood!!!! One time it was really crowded. I tried to go to the Sizzler but it was closed...So I went back to Red Lobster. Anyways, the hostess was mad because I had left The Red Lobster and had not told her that I was going to the Sizzler. She made this big stink....And I was on a date...I was soooo embarassed! Because I wanted to really, really impress my date...And let's face facts here...Red Lobster aint cheap! but the hostess was giving us such an attitude. Anyways, we ate. I had something deep fried and I think my date had something deep fried as well. When we were done the hostess finally came over and apologized. But I couldn't tip our waitress because the hostess had been such a cunt. I love Red Lobster.

I was working in Red Lobster while going to University and a mom and a daughter were having dinner. This happened quite a bit the students would show up with their parents for a free meal.

I was not really a big seafood person, so no mussels sliding down my throat for one thing.

The mom and daughter had ordered Mussels Marinara appetizer and I set the bowl of red and gray down on the table and said, "Dont they look like a bunch of clitoris's?" Honestly I thought it was funny not realizing how bad that was to say.

Next thing you know my manager (who is built like one of those Ketucky Fried Chicken balloons of Colonel Saunders where you put the white balloon with a picture of him into a flat pair of black shiny paper shoes that stands the balloon up and you could kind of punch it up and down--good times.) calls me into the office with a red face but sort of trying not to laugh I think and said, "What did you say?" I told him and told him how sorry I was I hadnt meant to offend. I didnt lose my job over that.

Tipping stories, stuff I have seen chefs or other waiters do to food, stories about people I served, and my own mess ups, I got so many of those sorts of stories. All yall who say you tip over 20%, even the ones tipping out 20%, please come dine where I work I will be happy to serve you and get the loot too!

When picking up a to go order, you are only obligated to tip the person who brings your bag filled with the styrofoam packed food and drink, ONLY if they give you a blow job while you wait. Otherwise, just don't worry about it.

That's why the servers loved me when I worked... if we were slammed to that point, not only would I bus the tables (which wasn't my job, it was theirs, actually), but I would also make sure that drinks were kept up on those drinking water and soda pop in sections that I knew were getting less attention. I was earning minimum wage at the time, too, and they weren't... I was doing it expressly because I knew how horrible it could be if they didn't get the right amount of tips!

This was in addition to deep cleaning the floors in the back, the shelves in the walk-ins, and doing all the dishes at the same time. I had a great system going.

That's probably my second most favorite job I've ever had... well, except for emptying the deep sink [:'(] Usually had to do that twice a night and lemme tell you it smells groooooooss. There was also that one time a girl thought it was funny to smear her feces all over the woman's rest room (and she wasn't even drunk or high) :( That made me unhappy.

Overall, it was a good job. I quickly got raises that others working there for two or more years before me hadn't managed to even be considered for, and I was put on extremely often (though one time I had some trouble making the manager understand that when I said I could work 20 hours on such and such week, I *actually* meant 20, not 25 or 27)

But getting back to the point, I took pride in the work. If a customer was unhappy, it wasn't just the server's fault, it was mine and the cooks', and the other servers' and the manager on duty's fault in my eyes.
