[;)]

True enough, Rich - that's why I included the words, "so far".

Indeed.  Most conservatives I know are happy with it...which isn't a suprise considering Obama is just continuing what Bush had started in that respect.

Absolutely not true.

Bush only agreed to a withdrawal after Maliki endorsed Obama's plan during the campaign.

On matters of foreign policy, Obama so far is actually proving himself to be pleasingly moderate.

Wow, Sanity actually giving Obama a compliment.

I'm impressed.

That assertion raises an interesting dichotomy because don't Liberals commonly maintain that Maliki (and the rest of the Iraqi government) are or were all Bush puppets?

Bush was working on withdrawing far before that.  He was just against a set timetable too soon, wanting to rely on reviews of the situation.

Something Obama seems to be doing similar to, by extending deployment until 2011 after review of the situation.

Yep.

But I'm just reporting the facts.

I listed them in another recent post on another thread, but I can repeat them here if you don't believe it.

Off the top of my head.

1) No government sanctioned torture
2) Stopping the Bush anti birth control conscience nonsense
3) Lifting the gag rule
4) Lifting the ban on stem cell research
5) Closing Gitmo

Not bad for less than 6 weeks.

a solid 8.5 for first  four weeks in spite of no cooperation from across the aisle

Got a bridge to sell ya if you think that list is remotely accurate though (as has already been debunked in the thread.)

Obama said all along he felt we needed to withdraw but still maintain a security presence.

The dispute going on now is the size of the security presence.  Myself, I think it is too large, but it is still better than than the exposure 130,000 to 160,000 of our trooprs have had.

And no, Bush was not for a withdrawal all along:

(CBS/AP)  In an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel, Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said he supported a plan proposed by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq within 16 months.

When asked when he thinks U.S. troops should leave Iraq, al-Maliki told the magazine, "As soon as possible, as far as we are concerned."

He added, "U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is right when he talks about 16 months."..............

The prime minister, who has spoken of setting a timetable for U.S. withdrawal - an option that has been anathema to the White House - discounted the Bush adminstration's concerns.

Debunked where?

Disputed does not equal debunked and the supposed debunking has been unsupportable, at best.

But feel free to make your claims.

Actually, an honest appraisal would see that Obama himself is "debunking" Obama.  The man spins a web of deceit with words...and, like all lies, eventually they catch up to the liar.

Obama has betrayed his campaign promise that he would go through every piece of legislation "line by line"...and make sure there was no pork...that didn't go any further than HR1.Joe Biden gave the Obama Administrations "promise:" to America that change was indeed coming..

Huffington Post - December 2008
"It's important for the American taxpayer to know that it's not - and I want emphasize this having served many years in the Senate -- this is not going to be politics as usual. And we will not tolerate business as usual in Washington. There will be -- I will say it again -- there will be no earmarks in this economic recovery plan. I know it's Christmas. I know it's the Christmas season. But President-elect Obama and I are absolutely determined that this economic recovery package will not become a Christmas tree."

Buyers remorse is already setting in among the New York intelligencia...and demonstrations are starting up across the country.
