Probably as important as it is to a Domme,a slave or a just plain old vanilla person. No more ,no less.

kiwisub12 -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 3:12:10 PM)

Don't know about subs and educations  -   BUT - for everyone, education is important. Unless you can find someone to pay all your expenses for the rest of your life (unlikely) then you need to put yourself in the position of making some decent cash.  And most well paying jobs come with demands for "education".

Get thee back to school, get a GED, and enroll in a tech or university. Take out some loans and apply yourself. Find something that interests you.

and why on earth is your nick about your lack of education? Surely there is something positive about you that you could have gone for.

For many people, having a higher education is important as they have a certain career goal that want to obtain good well paying jobs. It just hinges on how much you want to achieve in your own life regarding financial stability and long term job goals. If you feel you want to further your education then by all means go for the gusto! In the end, it boils down to what you want out of life in this area.

For me personally being educated and constantly learning is extremely important. Not just academic atuff either, learning and growing as a slave is very important too.
In someone elses eyes is it important im educated? Academically i think everyones answer would differ to be honest. As a sub / slave i cannot see any Dom / Domme saying they don't want their to sub / slave to grow and learn.

I think iy should be banned and also voting for ALL submissives... and we need to learn to sew and cook and clean and smile sweetly.
Because we all know the ability to write is dangerous as we might smuggle a note out of our cages.

exactly, growing and learning is what matters. academic degrees...some of us may have many, but they can be irrelevant. they don't make you a better person

Damn right, first comes writing, then ideas and all the sudden I have to get up and get my own rum and coke? No Way man!!! :P

WiseCracknSadist -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 3:50:55 PM)

If my sub is uneducated who would I get to do my college homework? :P

I think peoples is peoples and they are who they are going to be regardless of education. I have read about managers, ceo's, pilots, etc... Who go home and worship at their Masters feet.

In the end, and it's kind of an unbrella answer, the only one you need to ask that question of are those who consider to make you theirs.

ExKat -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 4:52:44 PM)

Education is extremely important to me. Nothing sexier than someone who can beat me in chess. I wouldn't even consider dating someone who wasn't at least working towards a BA: I've spent a hell of a lot of time getting educated...what would I have in common with someone who wasn't? I think that the BDSM community as a whole is better educated than your average joes.

hell...if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have gone to college. Some of my favorite people did not pursue a 'higher education' (Glenn Gould, Cornelius Vanderbilt). Are you worried people will think you're unintelligent?

shivermetimbers -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 5:06:44 PM)

My opinion is in my sig line.

camille65 -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 5:06:58 PM)

It seems like it is important to you, it is part of both your nick and profile. So you must think it has some importance.

Education in and of itself isn't as important to me, as is a generally eagerness towards learning and growing. That holds for everyone, submissive or dominant.

CatdeMedici -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 5:09:54 PM)

I don't expect someone to have the school education I do, I expect My sub to have the ability to talk about the things I am interested in.

You're kidding me right?
When it comes to the basic i have to disagree with you. I have never come across as much bad spelling and use of grammar as i have on BDSM websites.

Kana -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 5:13:55 PM)

Its less about education and more about intelligence.
Stupid people bore me, which means they won't last long in my life.
But if she has an inquisitive mind and is a good conversationalist, shrugs, I don't care.
Can she capture my mind as well as my cock and heart?
That's a requirement for me.

If she is smart and willing, I can teach her.
I've had girls do assignments, read Plato, or Aristotle
And tested them on it.

Course the Twue Dom answer is what do I care, She can't talk with a dick in her mouth.

oceanwynds -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 5:14:30 PM)

My degrees come from the School of Hard Knocks. I dropped out of college my Junior year and never went back. Though I do not have a degree, I never stopped teaching myself. My mind has always been a sponge needing to learn more input daily. As a human who is submissive, learning new subjects is a big part of me. I dont know how it is to others, but for me the thirst to learn and know things is a major turn on.

CallaFirestormBW -> RE: How important is education for submissives? (3/3/2009 5:15:28 PM)

Education is important for everyone -- submissive or dominant, educating oneself and developing the capacity to reason, think, consider, and create, as well as to cogently discuss concepts and examine ideas is crucial to good decision-making.

Education does not necessarily require a formal school, nor does it necessarily require a college degree, though that is one of the easiest ways to obtain education. It is possible, though, to continue to educate oneself whether or not one attends school, and that is an individual responsibility that cannot be cast off or shirked, IMO. To me, a submissive or dominant individual who had no interest in educating hirself or expanding hir mind would be a poor fit for me and my household. I don't believe that it is a responsible option to ignore one's education in our current society, and choosing to do so is anathema to my mind.

I totally agree, but I will say, intelligence is sexier and more appealing than an education. You can be VERY educated but not intelligent, although they do go together often. I have more than my share of paper, but that isn't what makes me intelligent.

That said, there is NO excuse for not having a HS diploma!
