Uh, yeah.  There's also nothing more absurdly unassailable than the confidence and machismo of someone seated comfortably in judgment at a computer, hundreds or thousands of miles away and days after the fact.  Suuuuuuure, you would have been all OVER that wendigo motherfucker and his twelve-inch buck knife drenched in gore.  Him looking up at you with those shining jet black pits for eyes, covered in blood, with rags of human flesh hanging from his mouth wouldn't have given you a moment's pause, nosirree.  Because you are jest BADASS.

Lmfao!

I think I'm going to have to agree here.

Ummm if you don't like it, don't move here? Obviously the guy was not all there. Sane people don't eat people on buses and save some in ziplock bags for later. Putting him in the general population of a prison would be a terrible idea, both for him and potentially for other prisoners. This way he can get the help he needs, and the victims family won't have to worry about the potential of him getting out on parole.

Well, I have been to Montreal and I loved it...was a mix between the US and Europe...I can't quite place my finger on it. I do enjoy that country, its friendly and safe. This is just a random act of violence that does not affect my view on the country. I think it is narrow minded and a bit on the defensive to say "well if you won't like it don't come.." when I am making a mild criticism of the justice system (notice not on Canadian society, its people, culture, etc).

In any case I am not against this animal being treated by doctors since he has issues...but inside a prison walls away from innocent people who have no reason to have to fear being killed and eaten.

I disagree with everyone saying he should stay in jail or the loony bin for the rest of his life.  IMO, he should be peacefully and mercifully put to sleep.

May I suggest that you do what us Canadians do when we attempt to changes the laws and start petitions and lobbying the local MPs and then find some who are sympathetic to your cause to bring this proposal to the House of Commons. Maybe, just maybe you working with the said MP write a Bill to be presented in Ottawa and lobby that it passes several readings before being presented to The PM.
Granted our government is flawed and we Canadians do know that. What you have to remember is unless there is another system which is absolutely perfect then we have no choice but to work with what we have and try to change what we Canadian citizens feel isn't right for the majority of the country's population.

Dear beargonewild,
Yes I agree with you...the only realistic choice is to write to the local MPs and attempt to have the law changed..the parents and relatives of the victims can have a greater impact...which I am sure the MPs would be loath to ignore. In any case I was just surprised by the ruling, no system is perfect naturally, in the US they go overboard but maybe thats why...cause the judges cannot be trusted through lack of common sense and empathy....I am betting in the old days (late 1800s and early 1900s) these nonsense fom judges did not ocurr but on the contrary took their deliberations very seriously...or so it would seem. In my country that was the case until they got rid of the old fashioned law system largely based on the Napoleonic Code...big mistake as the results are now dismal where criminals comne in and out of the system making the justice system a mockery, a joke - this is my personal opinion of course.
