research can be slanted to show any point.

there is no issue that obesity is becoming endemic in many many countries around the world.

there is a time to be firm, there is a time to be firm and understanding. there is never a time to be boorish.

when a man gets as large as this man, he has long ago passed into the realm of medical obesity. it's no longer an issue of controlling his appetite. his comorbidities will be wreaking havoc with his system at this point.

no apology is necessary to me, you weren't rude to me.

and i'm afraid, any attempt on your part at humour at this point will hardly be seen as humour despite emoticons. good luck.

Interesting thread, interesting in that it reveals people through their reactions about morbid obesity and fatness.

Sad as well.

Cigarettes can be stopped cold turkey and never picked up again, food cannot be treated like that.

And so easy for someone who has never had a weight problem to chastise those who might.

No worries. Time might will do it's dance. A child or two comes along, perhaps. Too many other potential factors to list.

Youth and beauty can fade. Wisdom and compassion usually don't.

Ohhh, you have much to learn! The forums can be ruthless. They can also be supportive beyond belief. That's probably why this little corner of the forum world it titled Polls and Other Random Stupidity. Be careful before you comment on the "stupidity" part. That's where the ruthlessness WILL come in from other posters. Though, you did win some points back by apologizing and admitting that your fact was wrong.

Because skinny is perceived by many to be more acceptable than someone being fat.

Personally, I am more attracted to people with some meat/fat on them. The anorexic/skin and bones look doesn't do much for me.
