*snort*...(as a german I can't agree that anything which is english can be very much like our german *sorry*)

You can disagree, but you'd be wrong. English is very closely related to German on the linguistic family tree. Old English (think Beowulf) is structured and sounds much like German. English is also closely related to Farsi and Arabic, linguistically speaking.

Lady E,

Good for you, that is quite an accomplishment.  Talking on the telephone in a non native language is much higher in difficulty because it lacks body language and facial expressions.

And I once managed to instruct by telephone a Spanish guy on getting all the goods onto a trailer which involved unloading some pallets and loading the boxes from them onto the top of the pallets that would fit the trailer - all with no Spanish language on my part and no English on his. All achieved with French and a bit of Latin and a funny accent.

Med venligst Hilsen

E

My complete inability to learn a second language would in all probability result in my not being able to understand the language I had made up...I am that hopeless in this area. But thanks for the advice FullCircle

"Chouchou" IS nice. It means "little darling" or something like that. But if you don't like terms of endearment... fine *STOMP*.

And I was to know that how?...Remember me, one language only, when flirting with me please restrict yourself to my native language....it will be so much more effective that way.

I was watching the remake of planet of the apes the other day and there is so many things about that film that don't make sense but the strangest one is the fact the apes chose to speak English and it hadn’t evolved at all in hundreds of years. I'll not be able to understand the apes speaking English in the future when I can barely understand English as it was for Shakespeare.

English has a lot of French influences as well. Moreso in the vocabulary than structure. But if you take the King James bible as an example of old English, many of those things could be directly translated and not lose their meaning - i.e. "for they know not what they do" as opposed to something like "they don't know what they're doing."

Clockwork Orange. It's full of weird linguistics, and it's so much more relaxing than Planet  .
