They have one called flirty girl fitness, and it'll show you how to do some of the most popular dances done in movie videos and dance routines, and they'll even show you how to do erotic chair dances, and they claim that you'll loose two sizes in just a few days, if you do their work outs. Now I'm not falling for any gimmicks, I really don't believe you can loose two dress sizes in the time they claim you can, but I have had an interest in dance for fitness.

Now of course all the other caveats still apply I know. Eat right, and in moderation, calories burned VS calories in  and blah blah blah, but that's not my question, my question is will these dance video work outs really provide the results they claim, and will you really be getting enough of a work out on them, if you do them regularly to start seeing weight loss?

As long as you realize that going into it, you're on the right track. Because yeah, dancing can burn off the pounds as well as any other aerobic activity. The key is, are you burning calories and getting your heart rate up into the target zone? If you do that through dancing, you can lose weight just as well as if you're biking, rollerblading, or whatever. And if dancing is something you enjoy, it'll be far more beneficial to you in the long run than an activity that you don't enjoy, simply because you'll do it more often, spend more time doing it when you're doing it, and throw yourself into it more completely than if you didn't enjoy it. Dancing really looks to me like it would be a terrific aerobic activity, because it uses the entire body. If it's not too expensive, I'd say go for it! And good luck!

Panda, Joey Fatone, slimmed up quite a bit when he did his stint with dancing with the stars, apparently the demanding routines and all the practice they had to do, had him so active he got fitter:)

And if you like you can use the dance moves to dance for your partner too hehe.

I actually took a lap dancing class, but when ever I asked to dance for him he said maybe later, so I got discouraged and never practiced, so I forgot all the moves lol.

Dance, like sex, is good aerobics. (But if I had a choice...)

As someone who has had his own difficulties with weight, and diabetes because of it, I can tell you that some "fad" excersise program isn't going to do as much good as just cutting your portions in half, and getting out for a walk five nights out of seven.

I was 338... now, after the first year, I'm down to 280... and still going down. Slowly, controlled... but still getting results. I know I'm NEVER going to look like the guys on those excersise shows... but at least maybe I'll be able to get back the 20 years I might have otherwise lost.

Yes, I did say I knew all of that,  and I am already controlling my portions and eating smarter and all that stuff, and I do walk, and will be walking and biking more,  But, I'm looking for something far funner than walking and something you can do in the privacy of your own home, and maybe give your partner a little thrill, after you learn a routine. Something fun and sexy,  and that makes you feel good and vibrant and alive and walking just isn't sexy it's not fun, and it doesn't make me feel vibrant and alive more like a sad tired sack.

Plus maybe I could even earn money from learning to dance by entering amature competitions lol.

I kept from being obese through dance...  I worked out four hours a day though! lol  It was my love for music and movement that inspired me.  Some said I was too fit and were shocked when they saw me.  Dance works... but you have to move just about every lil part of you.  It only works if you do it though.. so you must find something in it that reaches your soul or some worth to make the pain and effort worth it.

I used anything around me for dance or play... um's as weights.. they loved that... I did leg work outs with them riding my legs... squats as I washed walls.. dance a little... stretch... repeat.  We all had a blast.

Find some music you just can't sit still to and dance your lil heart out.  Make your dance, your own...

To lose a lot in a few days... I find hard to believe unless you start out doing too much, too fast, for too long and don't eat.  I wouldn't recommend it.  I wouldn't trust someone saying that to teach me what is really good and balanced and to show me the right steps to tone the right way and the right spots or even evenly.

I have a good friend who lost 100+ pounds on the Richard Simmons' dance videos - in fact, last year she actually was invited to appear on his newest video and swears by the program. I can track down her email if you'd like to converse with her (er, she's also very vanilla, as a heads' up).

Sure, it'd be fun to talk to someone about dancing as a form of fun  exercise.

LOL Lockit when we were kids latching onto my dad's legs was so fun, and he'd drag us and if we were not squarely on his feet eventually we'd just loose our grip or fall off, but in the means time it was the most fun.

I remember when I was younger and we played with my nieces, we did horsey back rides, where I on all four would pretend to be an angry bull or horse and buck and paw and snort,  and they'd have to hang on for dear life, while I "angrily tried making them fall off"

I don't buy the gimmics like I said so I am good to go as far as that goes.

The rehearsals for Dancing with the Stars are more intense and longer than a one hour dance aerobics DVD. I teach a dance aerobics class at a gym, and when I was trained for that class, we were dancing about 9 hours a day, with little 5 or 10 minutes breaks so we could rehydrate and eat a protein bar. I dropped about 8 lbs over those 3 days - I wouldn't suggest that you go on a dancing marathon - but just realize that the intensity and length of your workout, along with what you're putting in your body, is what will determine your results. Dancing is a great workout because you're using your entire body, even little muscles that aren't used when lifting weights. I love it, it makes me feel really good, and it burns calories :)

I didn't drag them around! lol I did leg lifts with them, from difficult positions.  Figure thirty pounds lifted repeatedly... that's gunna tone something!  But go slow at first... You don't need being injured and do warm ups...  Flash dance isn't where to start! lol

I bellydance. I had to switch to more cardio rather than weightlifting when I crushed my shoulder and hip

LOL... well... you can get the one you are talking about and just balance it all with paying attention to your body and starting health situation.  When I got sick and gained weight.. which is about where I am at now... I didn't eat meals.  I nibbled on carrots with dressing, cheese, crackers, veggies and fish, once in a while chicken breast and danced when I could once I started feeling better.  Don't forget water!  Within four months I lost 40 pounds once I did all this and had the medication I need for thyroid.

Lockit, my Dad is also going to help me with my quest to gain some strength in my body, by showing me how to do bar lifts and bar curls and stuff, and the bar is just heavy enough with out weights to be a bit difficult, I can only do 14 curls, and 7 over head lifts, and we'll do it every day maybe a few times a day.

good luck with that.

i have to tell you to be careful. I love to dance and am in fairly decent shape, but it can take a toll on the body. The problem is it is FUN, and you do not realize that you may be overdoing it. I have been pretty stiff and sore on more than one occasion from too much dancing. Take it s-l-o-w.....
