Many of those (myself included in some ways, and on some issues) that have been speaking out against the damaging and destructive effects of various and sundry policies, programs, practices, statutes and regulations (NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT. et. al.) have simply grown weary of taking hits while trying to advocate for ourselves and our countrymen.

So you're telling me that when some skinny little long-haired dork and some ugly, pear-shaped pudd from Chicago get together and tell us how great the Federal Reserve is we're supposed give up and cower in fear? Fuck that.....

When one of these chumps here pick on another poster because he or she says that NAFTA/CAFTA/GAT has fucked our middle class in the ass, I'm gonna come at them ten times harder....And I could give a shit what any one individual or one little group of posters think of me because of it...I hate bullies.....and when I see/read one, there's a natural inclination for me to wanna go toe--to--toe.

Thanks Pops -- Its the best gift you've ever given me...

I am unclear what has motivated the vitriole in your response. I have not advised you to respond to anyone in re any issue in any way.

As for myself that last thing I do is cower in fear. When intergity, truth and justice are involved I typically remain standing even in the face of my own abject terror. You've no idea the battles I've been fighting in the past 2 years. Very few have fought as long, as hard or as well as I have. On any given day the odds of my prevailing can be long or short. The likelyhood of victory does not factor into my decision and continued efforts. There is only the mandate of the just cause.

...explain suicide or heroin abuse.

MadAxeman -> RE: Mexico threatening the USA? Unbelievable folks! (3/22/2009 12:01:57 PM)

I think the former is a way of ending your life, the latter a method of avoiding the reality where such a decision might have to be faced.

FullCircle -> RE: Mexico threatening the USA? Unbelievable folks! (3/22/2009 12:05:12 PM)

No you are wrong  because we all know heroin abuse is a kind of dids role play scene.

Have you ever noticed that any time we get into such a discussion, all of us who are antiNAFTA are branded as racists or some other such nonsense?  The self important think nothing of those who have lost jobs for which there is no replacement.  Its the appearance of caring that so many of them maintain.  We dare not take a job from or keep a job from a developing country or poorer country but it is okay to allow our neighbors to starve.  That is the NAFTA truth.

I love the irony of this as a statement. ( Nothing personal, just the choice of words )

Lets get one thing straight here : At no time....EVER.. do I need or want a single bit of advice from you. I don't need your good graces, your permission, your acknowledgment, or anything else, for that matter to act or react in any so way I choose.

Furthermore.....I have seen you, along with one other particular individual who posts here clam up and scurry away like a church mouse when confronted by one of the biggest puds I ever read on these boards in four years. And I gota tell ya....I was hella ashamed to read any more of your posts after that. I could careless what battles you fight every day.....You’ve got a nutsack smaller than a pair of children’s marbles.

Irish….I could write fifty paragraphs on all these subversive treaties, detailing every nuanced/subtle way they’ve fucked us in the ass….Same thing with Wall Street and the Banks. But the bottom line is each individual, at sometime or another, eventually comes to a reckoning, and its usually too late by then.

And let me assure you.... My dismay is totally related to the pride I have for our history and traditions of the namesake. The United States has become a nation run by unscrupulous politicians that remind of a played-out, twenty-five dollar hooker scrounging around for a dime bag.

I haven't offered you any advice at all, wanted or unwanted. You seem to have worked yourself into a lather over some nonexistant phantom of your own minds making.

You're looking at a computer screen. You haven't seen me do anything. Your allegations of having seen me "clam up" or "scurry away" are without merit and again seem to be phantoms of your own minds making.

You have my permission to react in any way you choose.

Settle down, boys--what are you even fighting over?  Unless I misread you, you're AGREEING.

Don't have much else to add other than that I'm with Utopian as far as NAFTA goes.  "Free trade" was a slogan devised to impoverish middle-class America.  Too bad it took middle-class America so long to realize it.

NorthernGent -> RE: Mexico threatening the USA? Unbelievable folks! (3/23/2009 2:38:58 AM)

free trade is a disaster.

Free trade maximises the flow of ideas between nations, which in turn increases opportunity. The trick is that, as per any agreement, you need something with which to bargain; otherwise the dominant partner will guarantee a bigger slick of the cake.

The problem isn't free trade; the problem is the inability of the citizens of the nation to bargain for their share of the wealth flowing from free trade. In other words, where constituents can't stand their ground, they'll get shafted under any system; but I suppose it's convenient to deflect 'blame'.

I'm pretty sure Faramir has me on Ignore, actually.  It might have been when I called him an armchair strategist.

When I do....I'm gonna do like I said I would a few years back, and get you two together for a Yankees or Pirates game. And I'll sit in the middle so no one gets hurt [:D]

I'm gonna continue to work on ya surrounding that game... Considering my background between my father and me owning/running a sports bar for ten years entrenched in brawls every Thurs - Sat night, I'm a hellva mediator when it comes to guys like you and Faramir. ; }

As far as homes - I had never realized it, but according to the publication '' This old house '' PA has the largest concentration of well-kept Victorians in the whole country. But the weather in PA would destroy me.....Virginia is quite a bit warmer in certain places.
