Status: offline 		my first thought on this is if she really needs to be constantly beaten for "attitude adjustment," she doesn't have a slave attitude & in my opinion and would be more honest not calling herself one.  Or does she really want to be beaten, in which case why does she not just beg for it instead of showing a bad attitude?

Status: offline 		Actually, I remember a gorean slave who did receive a maintenance spanking daily. Took her owner five or ten minutes and made both of them much happier.

It depends. If he asks you to pour him a second cup of coffee and you refuse unless he first uses a flogger on you for half an hour, I doubt you would get many takers. If you asked before bedtime for a ten minute OTK to help you relax, you would have more luck getting it.

This can be taken two ways.

1, Would a Master want ("consider") a slave with this need?
It is possible.

2, Can someone with this need be a slave?
Yes, imho. If you are owned, you are a slave. Seems that simple to me. i'm very devoted to Master and Pomme, but i'm also very proud and need to be put in my place every now and again...

Status: offline 		Masochist yes, slave perhaps.  People in this life are far too complex to sum up with a single adjective.

Do you "need" a daily flogging to keep you in slave mode, or are you naturally in slave mode but "want" one because you enjoy it?  If you need to be beaten to stay in slave mode, then you don't fit my idea of a slave (your definition may be different).  If you just want it, then find a sadist who enjoys that.

Status: offline 		Thank you for the responses so far.  Just for the record, I am not referring to myself.  I am quite on the opposite end of the spectrum, but recently was in a situation where I was with a 'sister slave', that required almost daily beatings and even with that, she often got mouthy.   Being very different then her, I kind of jumped to my own conclusions. 

But then again, we are all different, so I wanted to get a 'feel' for what the community in general felt.

Status: offline 		No, I wouldn't consider the person a slave.  However, what would be most important is does the dominant in the relationship with her consider her his slave? If he does then she is in that relationship.

***i have been around girls calling themselves slaves - and not having a clue what it means - on the other side of the scale - seen girls calling themselves submissives...and being so much more like a slave...BUT...what is a slave? i think whatever her Master wishes her to be. If He wants a mouthy slave that needs a beating every day - but still does His bidding happily and obedienty - well...that is what He will look for. Some like a high maintenance slave - others wants the totally obedient one - and either is right for the Master chosing...

One will say mouthy - another will say spirited...smiles***

Status: offline 		Nope. If she needs to be beaten into submission she is not really submissive to begin with as far as I am concerned. As far as brats go some D types like them, but not all of us do. I certainly would not want one.

Status: offline 		The need to be beaten daily (or very often) isn't really material to their status as a slave, but the expectation (or demanding of it) is.  My girl is compleatly enslaved (yes, this smacks of hubris) but she still gets four with the cane as an alarm clock.  Could we go without that?  Yes, but it pleases me to do so and it does help her to be marked on a constant basis.  I led her to that expectation early in our relationship and she never hesitated.

Is there a danger of her slipping into complacency if there weren't some daily or semi-daily reminder of her status?  Maybe, although she seems to maintain when I'm away for a while.  She does tend to get a little "unsettled" if she hasn't been used/beaten for more than a couple of days.  I think it's more of a tangible reminder of what she is that she needs, a way to ensure that I haven't become complacent, rather than the actual pain.

Status: offline 		If I was a dom, it wouldn't interest me if I had to beat someone every single day to keep their attitude in the right frame of mind.

I personally don't need to be beaten everyday for it. At times I might be due to life interferences but if I needed it everyday I would really start to question our compatibility and just how submissive I am. Who is really in control then? hhmm

If that's what you feel you need though there are plenty of men I"m sure who are willing to do that..at least for the short term. Good luck on the long term though.

If that's what the master is question wanted - yes!

I'm not at all this kind of slave, but I have talked to more than one master who wanted this kind of slave.

Status: offline 		some men might consider it a challenge.  some men might like the spirited girl.  some men may want a painslut as a slave.  asking if this kind of person is a slave is like asking if rocky road is truly an ice cream.  it may not be to your tastes.  you may not see that kind of person as a slave.  our definition really doesnt matter.  all that matters is that the owner sees the slave.

It depends entirely upon who deems she "needs" it. If it is her keeper's will, and she accepts it as just and needed, perhaps yes—she does possess a disposition suited for slavery. This contrasts sharply against the egocentric attention the self-styled "brat" requires.

To Me this sounds as a timewasting attentionho,
which I don't have time for such. D/s is a choice, no one

Okay what is the definition of "beaten"?  As was mentioned there are some who find thuddy sensations like spankings and floggers to be relaxing and a happy reminder of ones place and role in the relationship.  There are many households that engage in 'maintenance' spankings and it's more a form of loving reward to the bottom than a required punishment.  Anyone who maintains a bad attitude and has to be beaten daily and then just goes back to the bad attitude, I would consider a controlling masochist but not a slave.
