Hi all :D I have returned from my spring break (where did I go? Why, to my parents' house where I proceeded to have a different doctor's appointment for three days in a row, thanks for asking), and, by nature of being bored for many, many hours, I got to thinking during spring break *about* spring break, and the nature of 'breaks' in general. Before I blather on, though, I have a couple major questions that I actually want to hear from other people about. What do you do on 'short' breaks from work/school/whatever (anywhere from 4 to 10 days)? What about longer breaks, like vacations? I've found that, for me, these breaks are highly unrelaxing, if a little productive. For shorter breaks, that's my time to 'do everything' that I can't normally do, things like doctors' appointments during the day, getting my own medications (for a change), some chores for my parents, that sort of thing. It's not relaxing, it's mostly just work, different work than I'm used to. A change isn't necessarily bad... it keeps things interesting, but it makes the name for such times (break) very deceiving. Then there's vacations... I *hate* vacations. Opposed to breaks, they're chock full of... nothing. For me, nothing is not that relaxing. Then again, neither are traditional 'vacation activities' like travelling and doing touristy things, or visiting family (quite the opposite, visiting family is *very* stressful). I've done a lot of travelling compared to most thanks to a lot of opportunities I had when I was younger, and by far the parts I hated the most were the parts the groups I went with loved the most... the tourist crap. I'd much rather travel to a different country, and just walk around a city or town than 'see the sights' as others seem to be used to. Having an itinerary is one of the most stressful things you can do for me! So THAT got me to thinking. What would be the perfect vacation? Thinking about it... I honestly think it would be a trip like the one I took to New Zealand as a staff member for a group... there were some out-of-the-ordinary activities (concerts and things), but on the whole it was a very open-ended trip where, as a staff member, I could do pretty much whatever I wanted to most of the time. Something like that would be the best for me. I mean, yeah, I'll probably do a little touristy stuff, but most of it... I don't care for! So what are your answers?
