Parking lot lol yep that is where I collared my sub. We went into the store and bought the necklace, took it out to the parking lot, he sat in my car and I gave it to him before he got into his car and drove back to Savannah. There was no big deal made, it was private and sincere. We did however spend a great deal of time discussing what his collar was going to be. Whether it was going to be a necklace or another peice of jewlery. He finally chose a sterling silver necklace. We never call it a necklace or chain though, it is his collar.

my first collar was a chain cut at Lowes and a padlock from there as well. It was put on me in the parking lot. :)

Now after it started turning...lmao, Master decided to get me a really pretty chain link style necklace. Well, we again went to Lowes to get some bolt cutters, because they couldn't cut it at the moment at the jewelry shop, and Master cut off the clasp in the parking lot and a few links to make it more of a choker and then attached the lock.

i giggled both times and i loved the way i was collared.

There is something that is so sweet about your story. I love that your Master took the time out in the parking lot to make your collar perfect for you and for him. I had this mental image of him working the clasp and concentrating on making it just right. Thank you for sharing this story. It is a nice one to read over coffee :)

Why would you say that you are ready for something you have no idea what it means and what you will be agreeing to?

*chuckles* that was my first thought when I read the OP

i have been in a D/s realtionship for over two years and have yet to be collared. my Dom asked me if i thought i was ready for it to happen. i said 'yes' and asked if He would explain it to me. He said He would, but i am just curious as to what i should expect. i can hardly wait... i think. (wink-wink)

I think it is important to point out..... That the collaring process (IE Ceremony of colloring) is faaaaaaaaaaaar less important than the actual bonding of two people that get you to that point. The flare or complexity of the cermony is just personal perferences and really is of little value if there is no commitment and sincerity. There are those that have big weddings and some have little ones... but it those that bonded together best and work every day afterwards together that show the true strength of commitment of the collar or ring!

Master is a She just for the record. Yes She did take Her time making it just right. She was so excited to put it on me that She just couldn't wait to get home. It was really nice, and such a nice day out too i wish we could have gotten a pic of it but i'll always have a mental picture of it forever.

Well, you might think that someone puts a collar around someone else's neck. You'd be wrong about that though. Lots of folks are collared but, no collar. They wear a ring, or a bracelet, or sumthin' else. My slave wears a locked on collar 24/7, but I think she's actually in a distinct minority there.

For some, a collar is a symbol of ownership, but for many, it's just the kinky equivelent of goin' steady. As others have already advised you, better ask what he has on his mind.

My Collar is not a standard collar either. It is a black hand crocheted choker with a silver Dragon hanging from it. I wear it with pride and joy. I have had many a vanilla ask where I got it and if they could find one for them... not bloody likely..

When I was collared..well wasent much to it really..we did a session and then he introduced me to everyone and told everyone in a loud clear *and proud i would say* voice that I was now being introduced to them as His girl and I was accepting his collar. And then he took out the collar me had made for me lifted my hair and put it on me and gave me a very sweet kiss. Nothing big really...but did it ever make me feel wonderfull...but alas...MY Old Master has moved to another state..and because of my vanilla life I couldent go with him..still he is a wonderfull friend...

we're planning on incorporating my collaring as part of our handfasting/wedding ceremony. i'm handling the vanilla-type logistics of the ceremony (invites, outfits, reception, etc), he's handling how the actual ceremony will be conducted, so right now all i know is that the groomsmen are going to carry me down the aisle on a platform, set me down in front of him, he'll collar me, then proceed with the ceremony. it's going to be subtle since there will be a lot of vanillas there. the only other thing i know is that a very good friend of ours is making the collar, and Master wants it inscribed with something but he won't tell me what it will say until i see it.

as far as i'm concerned, accepting his collar is as obvious as accepting his marriage proposal.

The responses to my original question have been terrific, and i appreciate them.

i guess i should have explained initially that my Dom and i have been very serious about O/our relationship and what O/our roles are with each other in this lifestyle and in the vanilla world. They are well defined, and there is no wiggle room for misunderstanding. This was established when we started O/our vanilla relationship almost 3 years ago. It was a natural progression to the lifestyle as He was involved in it for many years before as a Dom.

W/we have already done many of the things that were mentioned by people in the replies. He claimed me privately and i surrendered myself to Him long ago. i also got (as a surprise to Him) a special tattoo that only He and i would fully appreciate. I have had that tattoo for at least two years now. That was done long before i even understood what taking a Dom's mark could entail. W/we saw a girl in a restaurant a week ago and she was wearing a collar which had a symbol on it that showed that she was a slave. my Dom pointed it out to me and that's when W/we started talking about being "collared," per se. my tattoo has been my symbol of belonging to Him since i got it. i just wondered what the difference was between what W/we have already done and what others who identify themselves as "collared" have done. my guess is that the only real difference is that some of Y/you have had ceremonies or parties, regardless of how large or intimate, formal or spontaneous; and some of Y/you have a token of some sort commemorating the time that Y/your vows were made. i have never considered myself as collared as i have never had an experience such as some of those listed above, which i assumed had to take place in order to achieve that "status."

Now that i have read all of the responses, i see that there isn't much difference between their stories and what W/we have done so far. i have talked to my Dom and asked Him what He would like to do as far as "collaring" me and He said that He would just like to have a special day for U/us to remember when W/we put into words and symbols what the past (almost) 3 years have been to U/us and a pledge for what the future means to U/us. So, i hope to have a sweet story of my own. He said that He has some plans that He will share with me within the next week or so. i guess W/we'll see soon...

First you need to understand what the collar represents. Ironically, the commitment to the D/s relationship you've had for two years now. Easiest way for someone new to this lifestyle to understand a collar is the wedding ring. You can be in a relationship with someone and never get married or wear a ring, but when you feel you want to commit yourself to that relationship you have a cerimony of some sort and put on a wedding ring to represent the commitment made.

If you accept a collar you are accepting the dynamic of the D/s, M/s relationship you are engaged in or about to engage in. Some sort of cerimony if only a private one is traditional for the actual collaring process. Traditionally a collar is something that remains on and is only put on or removed by the Dominant. Also traditional that it locks and the Dominant is the one with the key. In this day and age public collars are also commonly used so the collar can be worn 24/7 without public scrutiny. In short, it is a symbol of a commitment. As someone else said on here, know the commitment you make before you make it. Lots of talk and understanding of exactly what you are engaging in should be manditory in my book. Sounds like you are very engaged in the relationship actively already though.

Accepting the collar means you don't intend to just up and walk away from the relationship any more than you would any other committed relationship. It also means the Dominant who put it on you intends the same.

Hope that helps.

First, Congratulations!! It sounds like you and your Master have come a long way and really grown together and I'm sure then when you wear his collar He will be as much honored to see it on you as you will be wearinig it. It's so special and amazing.

I got collared on an airplane over the Atlantic ocean. Master and I were on our way to London and he surprised me with it. We had talked extensively about it but I thought he was going to wait until after the trip. It was wonderful to wear it for the whole trip and there in the back of the plane, in the middle of the night it was very intimate when he put it on my neck for the first time.

I consider my collar my wedding/engagement ring. We committed to each other there in row 32 seats D and E. I'll never forget how wonderful it felt and the look in His eyes as he buckled it.

*getting all misty eyed just thinking about it* ahhh

My Master publicly presented my training collar to me at his gathering. My ownership collaring was a private, simple matter of me reading and signing my contract and getting the new collar. No witnesses, no elaborate ceremony....sorta like a wedding night without the wedding!
