After a coworker had spent almost an hour with a customer discussing various bank accounts and what would ultimately suit her financial needs, she abruptly stood up and announced she had to check with her husband.  (At the start of the discussion, she stated she was single.)  When she left, my friend mumbled that she deserved a spanking for lying.  I turned to him and smiled sweetly, and said, if she was like me she'd likely enjoy it.  Go ask her, she may just be looking for a playmate....  [;)]

Actually I think your pretty safe.  When ive seen that I like they want their keys handy for whatever reason.

I'm still fairly innocent ([;)]) in regards to flagging and different "signs" that identify a person.  I'm me and when I want to get to know someone, I focus on the person.

Funny thing though, I was given a tiny flogger keychain as a gift from a friend of mine...an inside joke...that I have on my keyring. Most people have commented on the cool black leather "tassle" but it usually flies right past them. 

I was at a wine bar a while back with friends and I had put my keys on the counter while taking my coat off.  The barkeeper came over to take our orders, looked at the keys on the bar then looked at me with a wink and said "Can I help you Ma'am?".  He knew it wasn't just a tassle!

I think that being more diligent of flagging is likely part of being into the more formalized lifestlye aspects of bdsm and I'm not, so I don't. 
That having been said, dependingon the venue, I have many groovy kinky pieces of apparrel and accessories.  At Cons, I've worn collar and cuffs along with a very suggestive outfit, corsets and heavily boned bodices usually glean comments from folks in the know, etc.

I DON'T! Not even close friends know. Funny, it's more about them worrying about me. I am very dominant to them, and the thought of me being tied and all? wow they would freak. It's not so much about hiding as just not telling. period.

My style of dress may often suggest it.  I'm not really one to dress down, and practicality has never been my priority, in attire.  Shoes and boots!  They, especially, can be read as an indicator, when they're fun and fancy. 
 
And I get the impression that my bearing may telegraph, a bit.

I don't flag.  I don't care what other people do in their sensual life, why would they care about mine?  I don't flag.. and yet, every relationship I have attracted in my life has been ds.  I may not wear a scarf, hang keys out, wear club insignia's or have a secret handshake, but men have found me along the way.  And I don't know how.  It is not as if I am a shy blossom who looks like she needs help.  LOL I think it must be pheremones.

Boots are nice, but since I prefer comfortable footwear in most walking situations, I'll slap a shiny black PVC or leather jacket over whatever I'm wearing, possibly dangling a bit of chain off my belt to the left.  Its not blatant, but if people's minds are keyed into those things, choices of color, fabric and material tend to get them thinking.  That and I have a tiny flogger-shaped keychain bestowed on me by a friend.  Its great for those smaller sensitive areas.

As for the OP's question on showing flags, I don't.  I am simply me.  People can (and will) make their own assumptions.  Those I choose to let in, know.

i have no interest in giving the general public clues as to my sexuality or proclivities, and i really have never felt like they even cared to know. i mean, i don't want to know about theirs and don't spend any time looking for flags that might insinuate information i don't want to know!

Anyone ever has the balls to ask me outright would get a short, succinct and accurate answer, no ambiguous flags.

Oh, for those scared to lose their keys, just put together a set of old ones that do nothing. If they get lost or nicked you can still get into your house or car!

Well, I would wear nothing but pvc tops and mini skirts with a spiked collar and cuffs, but since I'm a college student and that describes half the girls in my class, it'd just get me followed by the drug dogs. -_-

So I settle for dressing completely vanilla, and don't really mention anything unless it comes up in conversation. And really, the only time it ever comes up in conversation is at munches or play parties, and there - well the point is kinda moot, isn't it?

In my experience most of the 'hard-core vanillas' don't want to see, & so 'hiding' from them is simple . . . . . . & the many 'seekers after kink' are looking for signs, so they're easy to signal . . . . . .

I'm so not discrete about much of anything . . . . lol . ... . So I've brought plenty into the kink fold simply by conversing honestly & empathically . . . . . . & I rarely wear fetish-y anything, but I don't look terribly conventional, either . . . . (Currently in love with my pink mohawk . . . . lol)

i wear my collar and ring master got me and eventually will have a nice tattoo and i have one shirt that has cuffs on it :D

This topic comes up every so often.  I wear a steel chain with a lock on it.  I often wear a dogtag with a cartoon likeness of Ms. Mlicious on it.  Sometimes I wear a leather wristband with my OWK slave register numbers on it.
