Okay...I am not a purple crystal sort of person.  I don't generally buy into the ghosts, spirits, aliens, big foot, "We are all Starseed!....*ting!*" stuff.  I greet such things with a healthy dose of skeptic...

But.

My Lady's apartment has something in it that is not She, nor I, nor either of her dogs.  She has felt it, and now so have I.  One of her dogs acknowledged it this morning in a "stand there and just stare" as whatever it was came down the stairs as I was getting coffee.  There is a definable change in air and the feel of the area and I felt it as I went upstairs.  Then I heard a very clear noise in the bedroom from the bathroom and both dogs were downstairs.  No way it came from a window or wind or inanimate object falling.   My Lady has felt something get into the bed with her when I was out of the room.   It does not feel malicious at all.

Last night we played.  It was intense and emotional and energy was definately flowing.  And so it got me wondering...IF there are such things as spirits/ghosts/energy beings...might they be attracted to the strong emotion and energy exchange that goes on during a play session?

And have any of you ever experienced anything like this?   Or have I "gone 'round the bend" and should just check myself into Betty Ford right now?

The fact that you are introducing an "IF" to the equation of whether imaginary metaphysical entities exist precisely means that any answer/interpretation is possible....in which case, your answer is: they "might" be anything.

I'm the biggest skeptic there is, but, ever since I moved into my new home, which literally sits on what is probably part of a civil war battlefield, I've heard sounds and maybe even voices that I really shouldn't be hearing, and a few times, I've thought I saw "something" out of the corner of my eye that I thought was a human form, but when I look quick, it's not there.  I know it's all probably nothing, but if it is "something", I think it's pretty cool and I hope it makes "itself" more prominent, lol.

Maybe I've watched too many episodes of "Ghosthunters".

oh this is so up my street, i could go on and on....,

i have a little boy living here, ive seen a couple of times - he has a thing about glasses, the ones you wear, he keeps hiding them and putting them in strange places like my oven so they get melted and once he hid my specs for so long i was forced to get another pair, the very next day my old specs turned up on my freshly made bed.  i need them for driving in the dark cos i have a stygmatism in one eye, it was a total pain.

as for youre question - i dont know

but..., i do think that spirits are drawn to people who will be aware of them.  if you think about it, it must be really lonely never being noticed.  so it is an energy thing for sure.

I do believe in 'spirits', and have been interested in such for a long long time, ever since having some... let's say 'occurrences' of my own.  Now, that being said, I'm also a very logical person, an anything that can be explained away, I will do so readily and gladly.  Ooooh, ghostly footsteps?  Nah, probably the old water pipes in the house.  Tapping sounds coming from an empty room?  Shit, I meant to get out and trim that branch today.  Odd banging on the floor upstairs?  It's an old hardwood floor and a gnat farting sounds like a buffalo stampede.

But there are things that can't just be explained away sometimes.

I think there are certain kinds of spiritual manifestations, and you brought up a point, Otter, that they might be attracted to the strong emotions.  I am of the belief that they can not only be attracted to such things, but, sometimes they are created by such things.  All an emotion is, technically, is a collection of energy that is focused at one particular point.  And I think that either good or bad, if there is enough of this, it can sometimes possibly manifest itself as an independent energy.  Example.  Have you ever gone into a place that there has been a lot of ill will in the past, whether you know it at that moment or not, and just felt it in the air, so to speak?  Or gone into a Buddhist temple or some other place of that sort and just felt comfort instantly by walking in?

Now, am I 100% positive that this is true?  Of course not.  I'm not 100% positive that 'ghosts' exist, even though I believe them to do so.  It's just one person's theory on it, and you know what they say about theories and opinions. ;)

From the sounds of it though, if you do have a 'spirit' or whatever, I wouldn't worry too much, it doesn't seem like it even knows you're there, or if it does, it doesn't care.  If you or she is uncomfortable with it though, usually a stern, but polite and understanding, "This is my house now, and I'd appreciate if you would leave.  You don't belong here anymore." does the trick.

Hi, Otters----
I won't say unequivocably that I know there are ghosts but, in my Parents' house there is a really bad vibe, particularly in the basement.  As a kid, in one place in the basement, I often heard my name whispered right behind my ear...and, years later, my sister in law heard hers whispered in her ear at the same spot without my ever having told her that story.  Also, used to see the shadow form of what looked like a greyhound pacing back and forth in the upstairs hallway.  The vibe is malevolent.  The voices and dog shadow either benevolent or neutral.  Again, don't know what it is but did experience.
So, you're not alone in experiencing things beyond explanation.  Glad the presence seems positive.

i beleive it all, i have seen and felt some shit i cant begin to explain. including stuff that had a very negative feel to it. when i was younger i carried a huge amount of hate within myself, this once atracted a negative pressance into my old apt, that exp is not one i really speak about, let alone on the net. but the exp has shown me what hate can become to say the least.

if you do have something in your home if it has ill entent you should pack and leave, its not worth the feel of staying with it around. but if you feel no ill entent just let it be, generally stuff will leave you alone as long as you respect its boundries. that and things can give a positive feel sometimes.

Ok coming from a Dominant and the fact that the issue of spirits and supernatural usually means your kooky I will admit I do believe in "something". Call it Ghosts, spirits, supernatural, or just too much ice cream and a bad stomach ache. When I was young, I think 12 or 11, I fell asleep in front of My families TV one night. We were proud of the TV at the time because it was one of those technical marvels at that time that had all the bells and whistles. One said bell was the auto shut off turn on feature (this was back in the late 70's early 80's. So, I fell asleep in front of the TV I awoke about 20 mins later to the USA anthem song/signoff and then static. I got up and turned the tv off, at that moment, I heard plain as day "Hot, Hot, Hot, No." said to me as if someone were standing right next to me. Problem was I was the only one home that night because Mother was working late and My siblings were all out at friends. Ok so I pay it no mind cause I figured I was just hearing things or it was My mind playing tricks on Me. The very next day the whole family was at a gathering at Our Grandparents and My Brother walks into the home and sits down and says Our house had just burned to the ground. Afterwards I overheard My mother speaking with the fire marshal and he informed her that the cause was...The TV. The auto shut off/On feature overheaded and sparked the fire. So do I believe in something? Yes, do I believe that emotion can connet to said something during play? Possibly, studies show that spirits are around stressful events or places.

While I personally don't subscribe to the notion of ghosts "and stuff", I think you're fine for as long as you don't start drooling, or your legs start following you around. I used to think I heard voices, but then I discovered there was an antenna park owned by a radio station at the end of my street. They wouldn't move, so I did..

I believe in nothing....It is easier that way. I believe that spirits are attracted to those that lack the ability to understand that when we die we are gone.  Just more mumbo jumbo.

Poof! an ex Domiguy!  I can live with that...If I choose to haunt you,  you will know it is me because I'll be the ghost that will tie your tampon string in a unremovable knot around your pubes.

Ghosts, Jesus, religion all the same shit different day.

I LOVE that show (and TAPS). Never miss an episode if it can be helped.  Its unusual for me as I hate horror movies and the like - they are so negative and unhappy.

Otter ~ unguarded emotions may make us more receptive to things we normally wouldnt pick up on. The paranormal folks would probably try to de-bunk it by taking EMF readings in your house. Perhaps your household looked welcoming to a kinky spirit who had passed but has yet to move on. Keep an eye on your toybox and see if it looks 'rearranged' LOL

Oooh, I hate when things like that happen.  I used to get this terrible, almost like a muscle spasm in my ear, a twitching/thumping rapidly of my eardrum every time my grandma had a stroke, and this is 100-2000 miles away (depending on where I was living).  I would call up about an hour afterwards and ask, and sure enough.  No one ever could explain it.  But yeah, I agree, I've seen and experienced some odd things that would probably creep the jeebus out of Wes Craven.  Nothing truly 'evil' per se, but just really damned odd and 100% not explainable with any logical means.  And some of the "logical" stuff I explain things away with is sometimes even more far-fetched than saying 'It's a ghost.'.

The problem with situations like these is, it's difficult, at best, to garner proof, and even if there was proof, who knows what to do next?  And no one can really say with 100% certainty anything about it, because, well, that would mean saying "I know everything there is to know about it.", and that's just not possible in any field of study.  There's always chaos and randomness and glitches and all sorts of things that just can't be accounted for or known.  A quote, from Hamlet, comes to mind on this, stating, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."  To think we're all alone here on this rock, just the things we can see and touch and explain is, at the kindest extreme, arrogant and foolish.

We're just one tiny, insignificant little rock out in the merest speck of our arm of this single galaxy.  Which, in turn, is not even a noticable blot in the map of the universe.  Those that claim to know for a fact that something either does or does not exist limit only themselves.  800 years ago, a spherical earth 'didn't exist', it was flat.  100 years ago, a network which one could use by sitting by a box in front of a screen to study and comunicate was hogwash and poppycock at best.

Times change and those that don't limit themselves by what they know right now to be 'true' go on to learn and discover and advance.  And the ones that still hold that something is 'impossible' sit there on their thumbs in blissful ignorance.  Will there be a solid answer tomorrow for "Are there ghosts?"?  Probably not.  But just because someone has never seen another person have an anvil tip over on their foot doesn't mean it hasn't happened.  One day, there will be an answer I'm sure.  Who knows when?  But until then, I can't say that something doesn't exist simply because I can't pull the proof out of my pocket right now.

Hi Otter, several years ago in my old home in south west London some bizarre occurences were happening and if it weren't for witnesses I would have not only checked myself into a padded cell, but had the key melted to prevent any future liberty. I did seek answers and spoke with a professor at a university in the UK whose work included the research of paranormal phenomena. He explained to me that from the indepth details that were provided in response to his questions my home was not 'haunted' and no poltergeist activity was present, but rather that I was creating a tangible energy likely from my non-cognitive emotions. It stands to reason that if something can manifest itself during times of extreme stress/unhappiness, this phenomenon would not be restricted to negative emotions but also ones derived from the spectrum of primary, secondary and tertiary emotions experienced.

I read that ghosts are attracted to the dull and dimwitted.  If this was a universal truth, I wonder how many now would have proclaimed to have seen a ghost?

Why don't people see ghosts of famous actors?  You would think that one of these vain narcissistic fucks would come back and haunt someone.

I am being haunted by Richard Mulligan.  I think he left this world unfulfilled with the work he did on "Soap."

I have run from a house and refused to go back into it, leaving behind many valuable things.  I have lived in a number of places where weird things have happened to people and animals and two I would never go back into.. not ever again.  These two were not with just my family and were dangerous.  I found that ignoring a lot of it was best... but... something getting into bed with me... you bet my ass would be packing and running. I have seen too much to live with that! Ever see the movie based on a true story called the Entity?

I do believe that they can feed off of what is going on in the house and emotions... but some don't have to do that to be and do what they are... whatever that is.

I don't care what it is... whether anyone believe's it or me... I am not going to deny what happened to my family in old Michigan houses... nope... If I get a feeling and you can... I will try to stay and stand my ground... but when electric goes off.. out of wood or certain things happen... I am out, I don't care what I lose! lol  There are some I felt and saw that were not a threat and I could live with them there... but some... this ol chicky is not playing house with!

Eh, I don't car. Sometimes I don't believe in them (and I've had some pretty defining experiences), so I can understand the skepticism. Plus, that seems to be his function (and he's good at it, makes me laugh sometimes).
