I read that ghosts are attracted to the dull and dimwitted.  If this was a universal truth, I wonder how many now would have proclaimed to have seen a ghost?

Why don't people see ghosts of famous actors?  You would think that one of these vain narcissistic fucks would come back and haunt someone.

I am being haunted by Richard Mulligan.  I think he left this world unfulfilled with the work he did on "Soap."

NO WAY Burt's  dead???  That was the COOLEST show before it went drama later in the series.  I have that image of him disappering.   My Dad comes around every year near St pat's <long Story> to say hi to me.

BadOne

Soap was one Hell of a show.  Here is the list of the entire cast...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075584/fullcredits

Pretty cool to see everyone that kind of got their "start" on that show.

Anyways back to Richard Mulligan.  Start haunting me near the end of '06.  He just sits totally naked in a chair in my living room.  I say to him, "Dick, what in the fuck are you doing here?"  He just looks at me with this kind of bummed expression and then scratches his balls....Very odd ghostly behavior.

I think it's entirely possible that what you've described is exactly what's going on. Of course, it's also entirely possible that flying spaghetti monsters exist because you can't prove a negative and anything is literally possible.

If the ghostie isn't giving you any trouble, I say just leave it be. If it is, look into the cleaning/purification/exorsism rituals of your faith of choice and see if anything works. Typically, it's not the ritual or words or tools used, but the intent behind them.

I have yet to come across a ghost that I felt didn't belong here, or that was 'stuck' but, then again, that's me and my experience... and I have come across quite hostile ghosts. There's a difference between maleficence, and 'alien-ness' in my opinion.

The pagan reference was less meant to 'call' you a pagan, more your views as those that 'traditional' pagans hold in regard to ghosts. I didn't mean to offend (if I did).

In my 30's I spent 6 yrs going to a fertility clinic, until they hauled me in the office and told me that for some reason I am unable to have children.
5 yrs later, my mom dies ( we were very close), and I met someone that moved in with me. After our first month together, I had a dream...my mom came to me yelling that I needed insurance because I was going to have a baby.  I shrugged it off. 3 mos after that, I was getting these terrible headaches and decided to see a dr.
I had quit a job after 20 yrs to take care of my mom until her death. I had joined an agency where I could do patient visits and make enough money to keep up on bills, and still be able to care for her. I went to my boss, and asked how to use the insurance, since I needed to see a dr.  He had forgotten to give me the memo a couple mos ago saying that he cancelled our insurance because of the expense.
Later that week,  I snuck a pregnancy test and it was positive! At 41, I had my first child.  I named her after my mom.
My daughter when she was able to say sentences, told me of a dream that her Busia(polish for grandmother), had come to her and the things she said sounded exactly of what my mom would do and say.  She has had several dreams of her since.
As for me..... I long to have another dream of her,  but havent.
Do I believe?  You betcha.

That is one of the most positive and thought-provoking stories I've read in a long time. Thank you for sharing that truly beautiful period of your life.

I couldn't say if ghosts really exist or not.  I tend to think that they do because there are just too many people who have similar experiences.

The theory that, if they do exist, they tend to seek out folks associated with wiitwd.  Whether it be due to the chemical changes that we induce into our brains with extra endorphins, the pheromones that we exude, or whatever it might be, it makes perfect sense to Me that something doesn't necessarily share the same form as us would be drawn to it.  After all, we're drawn to it, aren't we?

How often do we talk about feeling the energy of the bottom (or top) that we're playing with or feeding off of the energy of other play that might be going on around us?  For those of us who enjoy public play often, don't we feel the atmosphere when other people's scenes are in progress?  We often talk about reading our play partners, but that isn't all just body language and communication.  We also talk about connection.  If we can feel that, how do we know that someone or something else can't, too?

Hi Otter, several years ago in my old home in south west London some bizarre occurences were happening and if it weren't for witnesses I would have not only checked myself into a padded cell, but had the key melted to prevent any future liberty.

I've had urges like that myself now and then, but nothing to do with the paranormal - I always just put it down to an attack of subfrenzy.

I'm afraid that I find ghosts impossible to believe in, but I'd love to be proven wrong. The world would be more interesting and mysterious if they existed. So... I'd like to put out a general request for anyone who comes across a really horrific denizen of the nether realms to please send the thing my way if possible. If it can convince me of its existence, it will make my day. And if it drives me into gibbering madness, at least I'll have that padded cell to look forward to. Perhaps a nice tight straitjacket, too. Mmm.

I tried. But it took one look at your avatar and ran screaming in terror from the room.

I'll admit that my avatar hasn't been looking too well lately, but I think whatever banshee or poltergeist you sent my way clearly overreacted. After all, my avatar is nowhere near as disconcerting as, say, a small white mammal in a collar and giant padlock.

Sub frenzy must be the new red, Wheldrake, it seems most on the scene/posting in the forums are wearing it these days.

I'm not sure that I believe in ghosts either (I've never seen one), nor enough to disprove them. What is interesting is that when you have four persons of varying religions, careers and ages,  and none of them with a belief in the paranormal and who all witness a specific event but each individual's details alter minutely in accordance with their own experience, it's somewhat difficult to put such an event down to an occurrence of sub frenzy, hysteria based on a shared fear of the inexplicable I could grasp. But then, that would mean that four adults, none of whom are known to flap in times of difficulty, would all be subject to an aberrant act of character - perhaps it was a case of voodoo.

If you are ever on the south coast of England and fancy a visit with my grandfather, you're more than welcome to take afternoon tea with him. He is a creature of habit and has tea at 4pm each day. He has also been dead for over twenty years.

Actually, I meant that I would ascribe to sub frenzy any urges to check into a padded cell and have the key melted down... and I was at least half-joking, of course. Sub frenzy is not something I'm very susceptible to in reality, especially since I belong to a woman who tends to give me at least as much as I can handle when we manage to get together.

As for your four persons of varying religions, careers and ages, I think the most important point is that anecdotes like this are common but tangible evidence is in very short supply. Ghosts may or may not exist, but I don't think any sensible person would doubt the power of the human imagination. In my opinion, the only rational position is to treat imagination (or suggestion, or even hallucination, if you will) as the more reasonable explanation until we have something more than anecdotes to go on.

With that said... if you're serious about inviting me to tea with your grandfather, I'll almost certainly be in the UK later this year, and from my perspective British distances are small. May I contact you about this when my trip is a bit closer?

Prove the existence of love. Measure a memory. Give me tangible evidence of joy, or sorrow, or any other emotion for that matter.

There are many things that are very real, and very powerful, but can not be proven or directly observed. Some things just... are.

I've never actually seen one, Bounty. My grandfather killed himself in the family home after my grandmother died of cancer - he just didn't want to live without her. The room that was his ended up becoming mine when I had to return home to care for my mother when she became very ill. The room has his old bed in it, which I used, also his old tallboy in which I put my clothes. The tallboy is a typical old gentleman's small wardrobe in which are three shelves for socks, vests, underpants. Every afternoon at 3.55 the family would hear a small shuffle of footsteps creaking across the floor and heading into the kitchen. It never alters and it's the exact same path he'd take every single day to go and make himself tea - it was the only time of the day that he didn't mind sharing with other people. I keep my closets locked b/c of my cats as they are long haired and have a tendency to get into such places to sleep. One day the family and I were in the lounge watching TV when I heard lots of bumps and bangs coming from the upstairs room. We laughingly joked and said, "Grandad's run out of tea." The banging increased and we thought perhaps the cats were having a tussle with one another. After the fourth loud bang I got up to check on the cats only to find them sound asleep in the kitchen downstairs. I went back into the lounge and notified the family I was heading upstairs and they followed me up. We entered the bedroom only to find not only had the tallboy been unlocked, but the doors flung open, the drawers had been flung onto the floor along with all my clothes. No other persons were in the house or had access to it. My grandfather was a neat freak and admittedly, I hadn't folded up my clothes when I put them away in his tallboy. When the clothes were put back it was as he would have approved, folded neatly and nothing of that nature occurred again. Coincidence?

Wheldrake, I was bemused at the use of the term 'sub frenzy' given its overuse on the boards as of late. You're welcome to tea, if I make an offer it's always a genuine one, you'll hear him shuffle across the floor at 4pm and into the room next door (where the kitchen is situated), nothing more so whether that's worth a visit to the south coast and a cuppa/kitkat that's for you to decide. My boy has just said, "What are you doing, are you arranging an online seance now?" I must smack him for having the audacity to read my posts although that's terribly hard to do when one is laughing so much!
