Try typing with your elbows and nose and toes.

Did better than that. Three C notes and I will be up and running this week. I also bought a bigger monitor because I basically can't see. Tiger is now Global, and I actually got on the phone with them and got what I want, IDE interface, enough USB and so forth, couple gigs of RAM and I think only an 80GB but that is fine as I will be adding another 80GB to it just about right away. No OS but got LAN, video and sound, a DVD drive, this and that, don't quite remember it all.

Now if my old HD is good, all I have to do is spend a few hours installing and customizing the OS. If my current HD is bad I have to pull my backup from another PC, via network because it is too big to do with disks. Unfortunately that backup is over six months old and does not have my most recent, and most important stuff in it. I might even cross my figners.

I dunno about typoing with my nose and toes, but I did know a guy who played guitar with his teeth, would that do ?

Just tell the guy to fix it and leave your personal life out of it LOL.

That cracked me up.

Hey, joke all you want. The main thing is whether my old HD is good or not. If not I will not be happy.

Maybe later I will tell you why I do not work on PCs professionally. Then this thread can become a circus, and I will be happy to participate. I mean there should be a PC based Darwin award or something. I do none of the things most people do.

Boy I got some stories.

Holy shit. My friend had to take his laptop back, so i decide to try this cranky old SOB again and after a bit of fiddling it worked. This may be the last time.

Sonof a bitch, now almost $500 later watch this MF run forever.

Found this lil bugger.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB Hard Drive - 7200RPM, 32MB, SATA-300, OEM

Ninety bucks + shipping. Now that everything is running I can clone the boot drive and copy the old drive. I should have plenty of space.

Now it occurred to me that I was putting all my eggs in one basket, but I will still have bothe of the other drives disconnected for backup.

I have decided instead based on the produst reviews. The 1 TB drives have been failing, I have heard no such thing about the 500GB. That should be enough for now.
