the truth and keith dont mix

just ask Dan Cooper

It is extremely damaging, both to my business and emotional state. Never in my life have I been accused of shoddy journalism. Let alone of such activity as violating the rules of a web site, as happened here. Far more important, I am at a critical point in the launching of a new media venture, and taking the time to deal with Keith Olbermann’s insanity and NBC’s lack of ethics and irresponsibility has cost me valuable time and energy. I do not, and have never, colluded with Fox News. I have never impersonated Keith Olbermann.

That harm is indeed ongoing. I am in conversations with NBC attorney Steve Chung about resolving this. His approach is threatening. I have no expectation nor even the desire for NBC to correct the record. I don’t trust NBC News to get anything straight. And as for KO, people who have known him for many years have told me he will never apologize nor correct anything he says.

Never said I was deep, but unlike you, and Fox, I'm not bitter. I rejoice in the discomfiture of these people. And yes, there is something wrong with these strange women who support a political agenda that goes against their interests (and those of other women). Stokholm syndrome, whilst a little extreme, is a good satirical way to describe their state of mind :-).

I'm not the least bit bitter, I just don't suffer fools (generally speaking, not specific to anyone in particular!)

You must find Fox News impossible to watch, in that case.

when people want to leave there homeland they tend to want to move to the United States rather then other countrys on those lists ;)

clearly others think we do ;)

...well, i was going to ask if you had a study to back that up, but Lucylastic beat me to it.....appears you are wrong.

Now Cruel'n'Unusual posted a bit back that he figured the USA had the highest standard of living in the world. Thing is, no-one appears able to prove it. Indeed various studies appear to put the USA quite a way down various lists......
So if the US system is so damn great why isn't it at the top of these lists?

Because the makers of these lists use criteria that is easily measured... such as GNP.  Attempting to compare subjective criteria that addresses quality of life issues makes any list less "factual" and tends to be regarded as less authoritative.

.....fair enough......but are there any of the less subjective studies that put the USA at the top of the list? We can all agree that they are less authoritive, but does the US top the list of any measure of standard of living?

Any such list would be an opinion... and therefore affected by personal bias.  Would you accept something like that if I provided it?

If so, then please consider my own list which places the US firmly at the top.

It was "proven" that it in one subjective ranking the difference between the 3rd ranked US and their top ranked country was statistically insignificant, and with one subjective change (the "culture" of France, lmao) and one time adjustment, the US would rank on top. A link provided by someone who's claim was that the US was "way down the list", lol.

No, they are all equally subjective.

Nice attempt at moving the goal post. You said "success" not "credibility".

What did he lose the sponsor over? And if that is a "credibility" issue then not having sponsors to lose would seem to be worse than losing one!

Actually, I think Dubai is currently at the top of the highest standard of living in the world... (or it was, before the economic downturn before the election.)

Oh, and I was just searching Youtube... and found several clips of KO correcting an earlier story, and apologizing to those concerned... but you know, you run any names of the conservative blowhards along with "apology" you get bupkiss. So I guess Olbermann is big enough (or at least honest enough) to keep things real....

Oh, hey, didn anyone else catch the Daily show last night? Stewart did a great bit on Beck and his hypocritical (mildly insane) "9-12 Project" (his attempt at populist patriot rousing, so that people would remember how great the GOP really is) then skewering the whole wretched shuck with an audio clip of Beck in '02, when he bitched about how he was sick of the 9-11 victim's families, and how he wished they'd just shut the fuck up!

The the GOP will ever apoligize to Max Cleland, the elected rep whose partriotisim was called into question during the last election cycle, despite his giving multiple limbs during his military service? If they ever have, I sure didn't hear about it!

Has anyone for the GOP apologized to that kid and his family whom they swiftboated during the S-Chip debate?

Have they ever apologized to McCain, for spreading lies about fathering an illigitimate black child? (Yes, the GOP even eats it's own, like a modern day Medea.)

Has Bush ever apologized for the WMD lie?

That's the thing that the GOP just hasn't quite caught onto yet: video and audio tape lives forever now, spread and archived in any number of internet files. You'd better be consistent, you'd better be honest, or else there WILL be those who will be in your face about it.

Has Bush ever apologized for the WMD lie?  You do know the definition of lying, right? Good, now show any credible evidence that he lied.

Thats why he had to drop out of sports radio..no ratings, because when anyone would call in it was obvious he didnt know wtf he was talking about.

Hmmm!

Yeah, I see your point.

He had to "drop out" in total failure after just twenty years.

Olbermann spent the first twenty years of his career in sports journalism. He was a sports correspondent for CNN in the 1980s, winning the Best Sportscaster award from the California Associated Press three times. He later co-hosted ESPN's SportsCenter from 1992 to 1997. After leaving ESPN amid controversy, Olbermann became a sports anchor and producer for Fox Sports Net from 1998 to 2001, during which time he hosted FOX's studio coverage of baseball.

he left espn for MSNBC when he use to regularly beat  Bill O in the ratings.  That was up until Keith's second tour with MSNBC.  His first day back on MSNBC Keith got clobbered and i guess he didn't expect it.  I think that's the root cause of Keiths grudge against Bill.  He never had a problem with him in the 90's  when he beat Bill in the ratings.  I use to watch Keith when he came back to MSNBC then his show started making a turn to the left more show then others in the MSM.  At first it was just slightly more and then it became very noticeable and patrician.  Then i just stopped watching it.

Ratings tell it all. He couldnt beat Rome, pulled the same crap he pulls ranting about BOR now. He tried to compete in Romes time slot, couldnt make it so he switched. Didnt make it there either, and admitted after being booted from ESPN that he couldnt handle the pressure of TV. Obviously he still cant.

So basically what you are saying  is everything is subjective and we can't truly measure anything.

Which implies we have to disregard any studies, any research, any forms of measurement because they may include bias by the author/researcher.

Which doen't give a lot of credence to the idea of scientific objectivity.
