We've survived eboli, SARS, Mad Cow Disease, West Nile, Y2K, and don't seem to be having much difficulty with the dreaded Bird Flu.

However, let's remember that June Six of Two Thousand Six is approaching. It'll be the 6th day of the 6th month of the 6th year. Does anyone feel a dreaded disastor comming forth on Karma alone?

Even if Karma has nothing to do with it, the psychological aspects of 6/6/2006 are bound to cause some people to do some strange and stupid shit. There's no telling what the hell will happen when this day and hour approaches. After all, you can have the 6th second of the 6th minuet on the sixth hour during the sixth day of the sixth month of our sixth year of this millinium. Paranoia alone can cause God Knows What.

To be on the safe side I'll be making sure to have my pocket knife with me as well as a good supply of toliet paper.

Anyone else here have any preperations for this day to be on the safe side?

Sorry, Fang, Homeland Security would allow you to carry a pocketknife. They're also checking on toilet paper to see if it's legal. Oops, the NSA is spying on this thread.

You know Fang, I hadnt even thought of it! But since you've alerted me to our next possible disaster I guess I better gather the brass and start reloading now..........
Grrrr Fang, one more thing to worry about!

Last night the boy and I had this very conversation as an off shoot to a chat about Katrina and the loss of My beloved New Orleans--seems there was a replay of an Oprah with someone ( the boy can add to this--) who said we are due for a pandemic--shortly, and this bird flu is exactly the match for what happened in 1918--this story indicated that people should be prepared to be in their homes not for days or weeks but MONTHS--I for one do not take this lightly--and will be something that he and I talk about when we are together, I have always been and unfortunately will always be committed to the safety of My family first and since right now its only My ummentionable who would end up alone, I have to prepare for all I can--

you may look at Katrina as "yeah but they are back on their feet"--I share this---Dr Treadway Suicide and others from New Orleans there is no one there helping, everyone is in shock still and disarray--

and as he pointed out, this when we have 49 states helping, focused on one area, what will happen when 50 states and the world are focused in themselves and cannot help?

Nothing more than keeping the balance within myself. I do agree though that the paronoia itself will probably cause pandemonium in and of itself. It should be an interesting day.

It's not June that I have concern over...it's the next couple months that seem to be sending up red flags (at least for us West Coasters). Reads "Trouble in Paradise".

lol. Fear the date because it is 666?

Revelations gives the number as 666 and 616 depending which part, and which translation you read.

Perhaps I should fear the first of June ... or in Europe, the 6th of January (oops, already passed).

There is also the feeling that "666" is a numeric cypher for Nero ... the Roman emperor who was brutally persecuting the Christians during the time of the writing of Revelations.

Anyway, as a student of Mythology. I LOVE world mythology from every culture. It truly is a remarkable affirmation of the human experience and how we relate to it.

But, mythology is NOT a set of facts to be proven true, OR DISPROVEN as false ... they are in a differnet catagory altogether.

Do not take your mythology literally as if it were a set of facts. It does a great diservice to you, and your faith, and to the myths themselves.

How pathetically pointless is one's life when they have no hope for anything beyond death. All they do is live for themselves. No wonder this world is in such abismal condition.

v spoke not of life after death but belief on earth that drives one's actions ( veronica, feel free to corect Me here)--he is saying that he gets it, no belief in some being drives his behavior--but life after-- well thats to be evaluated by all of us isn't it?

Living should not be for what may be, for it is what is---it is the belief that drives humans to behavior on earth that must matter---

The only reason is that when I worked on halloween there were some very bad things that happened at the store. I am not afraid of the date, only of stupid people and what they may do. I would rather not have them do it on my watch.

let's see...hmmmmm

*makes notes of possible things to do at the end of the world*

sleep all day and wait till it's over

rent a cam-corder and prepare to take videos of the event

sell tickets

make bets how long it will last

make crank calls all over the world repeating "The Sky Is Falling"

*just a few ideas to pass the time*

LOL

I will put the call into FEMA now. Maybe they will get there on time.
