wow....do we have to file a 1040 with collarme so they know how much we all make?  I've been well off and i've been dead broke but bdsm has helped keep me sane because it keeps me mindful of limits and abilities-a good thing to apply when times get rough. And i've met dom/mes and subs in the same boat-hell sometimes we were in the boat together looking for a paddle (hehe).

SweetMocca -> RE: Low Income Dominants. (4/26/2006 1:34:36 PM)

Well...i've had 2 Masters so far. The first one had lots of money...my current one doesn't. The former turned out to be a superficial, materialistic, label whore who acted like he was superior to anyone who wasn't well-off. The Master that I'm serving now is rich in things that money can't buy. And I love Him 4 that.

Najakcharmer -> RE: Low Income Dominants. (4/26/2006 3:22:27 PM)

Depends on *why* they're low income, and the same would apply to any potential partner regardless of D/s orientation.  Someone who was broke because he was too irresponsible or alcoholic or hooked on drugs to hold a decent job would not be a good candidate for any kind of partner.  If there are life circumstances that left someone broke in spite of their good character and their ability to be mature, responsible and hard working, that's a whole other ballpark.

i think Dominants have no money coz they're too busy buying equipment.  ~chuckles~

I made a comment that I think is better suited to being posted as a new topic! <deleted here>

Too often we have the illusion that Doms have some wealth.

money does not matter, it is the person who matters.

Knowing a few people who are in the same boat in the lifestyle, I have noticed that their lack of income doesn’t create any difficulty here but I know others in other states where there seems to be a financial limit before subs will even talk to Doms.

I find that utterly revolting and am pleased to see so many more positive responses!  Having money IS often the result of 'power'...but I think it's the power that is what's attractive.  Money is not the deal-breaker with me either...and often combining forces makes things much easier!  [:)]

I have often thought of and taken steps to create a commune type atmosphere with a D/s overture where we are all working towards the same goals.  Some people would think of this as a polyamorous type of situation but that is only if all are sexually intimate with each other.  I am thinking more in terms of pooling resources to live comfortably.  With one or more DOMINANTS as the "board of directors" so to speak.

Ain't that the truth.  Child care can be an issue, of course, but a couple with two salaries living under one roof has MORE THAN twice as much disposable income as either a couple with one salary or a couple with two salaries living under two roofs.

Wow. If you are not in control of your own destiny enough to create the wealth you need to survive healthfully, then you sure aren't able to take care of a "slave."  It should be a no-brainer. Mostly, it seems that the ones who call themselves "Dom" are usually semi-illiterate gorgios who like power and easy lays. Anyone who "submits" to them deserves what they get.

MrDiscipline44 -> RE: Low Income Dominants. (6/2/2006 9:14:31 PM)

WTF is a "gorgios"?

LRODANDMASTER -> RE: Low Income Dominants. (6/2/2006 9:17:46 PM)

The above would be one of the most shallow comments I believe I've seen in CM. If one can assume that this how the poster feels then I believe I would not want to have dealings with her under any circumstances. There are far more pleasant people to spend time with....

Both Lady Neets and I have been on disability pensions for some years now

If Doms/subs don't associate or talk to you because you're on disablity then they're not much of a friend anyway and probably not worth the time.  I have owned two businesses and made pretty good money then had a couple of heart attacks within a month and things got worse from there.  Regardless, I spent all the money I had saved over a 6 year period but my sub has stuck by me thru thick and thin and so have my friends, Doms and subs alike.

Personally, if someone wouldn't want to be associated with me because of money then I am glad I would have found out when I did and they can be on their merry way and so can I.

IronBear, get your damn diabetes meds when you can possibly do it.  It can ruin every organ in your body and even worse. I know what you're saying about meds though, mine ran over $800.00 a month for the last the first 4 years and over $1000.00 a month for the last year, like you though, sometimes, I just don't get them all.

BitaTruble -> RE: Low Income Dominants. (6/3/2006 12:18:06 AM)

Himself spends over $400 a month on his diabetes meds and that's with insurance. We just found out on Tuesday, he's going to be adding insulin injections to that. :(  IB and MstrChas.. I wish you both the best of health, and please, try to take good care of yourselves.

ropesubby39 -> RE: Low Income Dominants. (6/3/2006 2:01:29 AM)

True enough money doesnt matter, but what if for example the sub always has to pay for hotel room, phone bills and being asked to pay his plane ticket???

bandit25 -> RE: Low Income Dominants. (6/3/2006 2:33:35 AM)

This is such an emotional subject and I can see both sides.  Of course, money should not be a deciding factor...that's ridiculous.  But having money does make things easier for all parties...having enough money that is,  I think as long as you pick a good partner, the money issue isn't really an issue.
