I take your point, to some extent agree with it - but: there are plenty of people embarking on this journey, and some may want to show where they are. Some are rank novices, and I would not in any way begrudge them the right to do their thing. I think one should be careful not to judge someone on the basis of just a first impression. There is, realistically, no telling what a prospective sub will like - some insist on pictures of the equipment, other loathe it, some like that shot of your Corvette, others think that's improper marketing. It takes all sorts.

Status: offline 		While I partially agree with Des, that being toy pics could be viewed by some as better than no pics at all, I tend to have a different look at the subject.

I actually get asked (or offer) pics for all kinds of things.  (No, none of them are nude shots, so give that one up.)  One that comes to mind is an exceptionally unique purse that I have that people go wild over.  I also have certain toys that I've described on the boards that people are interested in seeing.  One is a flogger that's been nicknamed "The Dragon's Teeth" that quite a few people have asked about.  Other times, I've provided pictures of certain types of play. 

Now, I generally share those kinds of pics on a person to person basis, but there have been a few that I've thought about putting on My profile, just because some things are asked about so much.

I have no problem with the flogger pics. Think about the logic of your post and then think about how many freaking women on this site have pics of nothing but their cleavage posted with a profile that is a dissertation about how they want to be taken seriously?

Yeah, there's no reason that some women choose to post a pic but  not show their face on a BDSM site
As an aside, tits and brains aren't actually mutually exclusive attributes.... just saying.

ETA- by way of answering the OP- I make my own toys, and have plenty of pics of them on my Flickr account. If I make one pretty enough, I might post a pic of it in my profile.

I have to thank GoddessTeaze for her quote in her siggy. Status: offline 		haha.  Well, the reason i have an "equipment picture" as a secondary picture on my profile is a good chunk of it is in my favorite color.....pink.....and it's not easy to find that stuff in pink around these parts, so it took some time to collect it.  When i decided to do a picture of it, then i thought "What the hell?  i might as well throw the ropes into the pic too."  i did NOT include the more "intimate toys" in the pic, i have more sense than that, plus i didn't want that picture in A/anyone's head.  But actually, i feel the best equipment i have are my mouth and my brains, and You can take that however You want and in whichever order You want. ~smiles~

Though I have to fault the subject on a few confirmation points, won't use the technical term but the area where the jaw meets the neck is either really poorly defined or the photo was taken at a wonky angle.......actually the more I look at it the more I think it is just a terrible photoshop job. And, cars turn me on almost as much as some horses do. And, I always have to chuckle at the photos of guys standing proudly beside some sorry looking horse (we have a few of those that crop up regularly here as main photos annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, I am a hypocritcal cow!
