None. "stuff like this" comes from people's perceptions, writers will use subjects and arguments that connect with existing prejudices, rather than invent new ones. Besides, considering there are law enforcement consultants involved with the plots of Law & Order, do you know that the supposition is incorrect?

So this guy likes to drill holes in women's heads and the detective doesn't comment about lack of a Home Depot or Lowes marketing circular? I would think that would be the perp's wanking material.

And let us not forget the brain surgery manuals - oh, I forget, he did have those. When you get to these scenarios you know a series has been on the air too long, or needs new writers, or all of the above. Mind you, this being Manhattan, you can probably get a suitable drill around the corner easier than to traipse to Home Depot. I don't think there'd be flyers from anyone, anyway, they shoulda just checked his email and favourites..

I am soooo glad I don't watch shows like that. Life is too short.

I think it is a common assumption that watching violent imagery goes along with practicing violence. I don't know how statistically accurate that is.

It's violent upbringing's that make people violent, not violent films. They say the child is the father of the man. Many convicted serial killers and professional assassins report having a violent childhood; the old man was forever beating up mum, etc.
