I am curious, though, how many of the female sub/slave profiles are actually the person in the pic, or what percent are really men lurking or people wanting $$ sent to Nigeria? I'm looking for a sub/slave girl but am amazed at the huge number of nubile bikini-model types I see with profiles...

I've come to the conclusion that hot pics + lack of a 'real profile'* = scammer looking to fish . ... .

I've always liked doing the math -- hottie young chiquitas or dudes only make up a small portion of the overall dating pool (keeping in mind that more than half of Americans are overweight -- with similar for the other 'wealthy' nations -- & that a full 1/3 of US population fit the medical definition of 'obese'; & only about 10%-20% of the population is between 18 & whatever cut-off age one uses in determining 'hotness', & so on) . . . . . . . .

I once heard the stat that only about 2% of the total global population are 'naturally' built like a super-model, so it seems reasonable that something on the order of 1-in-10 are going to meet this hypothetical ideal of young-fit-skinny-pretty . . . . .

& the competition for that small portion of the dating pool is pretty fierce . . . . . .

So. The question becomes: what does one have on offer to lure the pretty fishies?

That 'economic' reality underlies why some pretend to be pretty fishies . .. . .

In general (&, yes, data points vary widely) pretty fishies tend to prefer to date & mate with other pretty fishies; those less-pretty fishies must offer up something that the other pretty fishies don't -- stereotypically money, but it can be personality, sense of humor, access, power, skills, somethin' above & beyond the ordinary ho-hum . . . . .

The further one is from young-pretty-fit, the more this is so, I tend to think . .. . . .

& for the crystal-clear record, I'm a not-so-pretty, not-so-young, not-so-fit-nor-skinny cougar who likes the guy variety of the younger & prettier & skinny & fit . . . . . I do okay . .. . . *shrugs shoulder* . .. . . & I don't really do the money thing, much . . . . .

* 'real profile' defined here as having plenty of revealing & very human details; not presenting just a stereotype of BDSM for the indicated orientations; & having the little details reasonably match up (ie, if their weight is 62 pounds on a 5' 6" frame --> seen that kinda thing a lot); selecting interests outside of just the kink ones; showing evidence of looking for a reasonable expectation; journal entries consistent with an ordinary person; (far & away a crucial indicator) having a posting history here on CollarChat; & so on . . ..

Omygoodlytoodlessness this has GOT to be one of the most complicated calculations I've ever seen... (no I never was good at math.. 2+2 is enough for me)
however

Leaving aside this whole silly notion of reality . ... .

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like math, but duly noted that for many it's darn near a hard limit . .. . lol

When I was a teen I was one of those what's-this-algebra-gunk-ever-gonna-be-useful-for types, but that was before I fell in love with algebra, in my twenties . .. . . Since, well, it crops up in my head & writings on a regular basis . .... .

You've been warned . .... . Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha . . . . . It's part of why I'm evil, twuly twuly evil . . . . . Mw-ha-ha-ha-ha . . .. ...

[sm=evil.gif]

Oh, yeah, when I speak math I'm aiming more for the boy-minds rather than the girl-minds (yeah, yeah -- I'm a sexist pig, too, but let's not derail too much right here) . .. . *snickers* . . . . I liked math, but I also liked that math classes were full of guys . . . . . lol

&, subtlebutterfly, for the record, 'not looking for anything' is the most reasonable expectation of all to hold, it would seem to me . .. . . Everything else is gravy . . . . .

FR

I am seriously never serious. Life is too short.

I did meet my Master on here so I guess that made us seriously real once!

DemonKia -> RE: How many are serious? (4/12/2009 6:57:13 PM)

Awwwww, thanks for noticing, Greedy . . . . . lol . . .. . Tho' I tend to think of myself as an uber-geek . .. . . lol . . .. With delusions of infinity . . . .

GreedyTop -> RE: How many are serious? (4/12/2009 6:59:27 PM)

but...but .... math... is SCARY

DemonKia -> RE: How many are serious? (4/12/2009 9:36:42 PM)

& like so many scary things it's also thrilling & beautiful & majestic . .. ... It's a fundamental language of how the universe operates, the keys to the scientific storehouse, & the cornerstone of anything that calls itself logic & reason even when they're draped in words . . . . & my math-geek-hood pales in comparison to the hard-on I have for Science, oh, yeah, baby . . . . . *deep sigh*

& . .... Evillest of all . .... It's hardwired into all of our brains, it's merely another expression of human capacity . ... . Tho' many have been traumatized, many have been callously & cruelly excluded from it's fine folds, I understand . ..... I would fix it if I could, waive my magic wand & make mathematics fun & wonderful for everyone, if I could . .. .

Instead I'll just have to share this example of nerd humor & geek obsession with porn colliding:

Nerd Porn

My only advice would be too stay strong, stick with your beliefs and dont take any rubbish the fakers throw at you.  Youl gradually learn how to filter a lot of them out.  Though it is a shame there are so many, sometimes your inbox is so flooded you can easily miss a genuine one.  Not to mention how time consuming it can be.

Good luck and Be Well

DesFIP -> RE: How many are serious? (4/13/2009 6:32:40 AM)

Math isn't scary, it's reassuring. There are no grays in math, just black and white. Either you get the right answer or the wrong, there are no 'it depends'. Now if we're talking about imaginary numbers, things get weird, but the basic high school through college stuff is clear cut, right or wrong. Not always easy, but there always is a right answer. In a world which is filled with overwhelming complexity, having something that is simple (not easy but simple) is reassuring.

CalifChick -> RE: How many are serious? (4/13/2009 6:48:33 AM)

I would think if you inserted into your equation the fact that the OP is 64, and is looking for an age range that starts at 20 years old, the result would be that 97.275% plus or minus 1.675 % of the responders would be of the "non-serious" or "fake" variety.

Could also be fun to apply quantum physics to this... One day I may even find the time to play with it and see what comes up.  Maths is good, beautiful and logical even if you move away from the common base 10 and rework things with lets say base 7 or even base 13.  Just an idle thought nothing very important..

lobodomslavery -> RE: How many are serious? (4/13/2009 2:05:41 PM)

ive gotta say anyone who regards anyone else as a fake is just demonstrating how shallow and insecure they themselves are. i dont judge people, i dont expect others to judge me. after all we are all the same

I have been on site for some time now and am a serious player who is looking for a sub. However I am astonished to find how many non-serious people seem to be lurking posing as looking for partners. There are a fair number of men posing as female subs. I regularly read of others complaining of similar experiences and even of stolen identities and photos. I understand that some will get their kicks from behaving like this and have no problem in those who simply want to brat or pretend to be serious. I wonder however if there is a need (and a method) of separating serious players from those who are not. For me, these people could perhaps use the chatrooms for their activities and leave the profile section for those genuinely seeking partners. Alternatively a new area could be established where bratting and playing games was the order of the day.

What do others feel about this? Am I alone?

PEOPLE LIE

Go figure  [:o]

DelilahDeb -> RE: How many are serious? (4/13/2009 2:22:40 PM)

Plenty serious, plenty fakes. YMMV.

You know, it IS the Internet. The place that took the acronym for a tinned wartime meat substitute and turned it into jargon for junk email. If we didn't have spam filters, these days, we'd never even open our inboxes because of the spam overload. (At least they're not spending trees to re-create the Post Office delivery scene in Miracle on 34th Street.)

My point? House is right: people lie. And they have more incentive to lie when it comes to topics like sex, kink, and porn.

Query: where does geometry fit? (They taught it in the math department of my school.) Once I was very bemused at having a homework proof marked wrong. Rechecked my logic, every step, and all correct. Took it to the prof and turned out I was right; I just hadn't used the much shorter (3 steps instead of 15) proof that relied on the newly taught theorem. He marked my paper back to 100%, and I went home reassured that sometimes the system wasn't out to get me.

Point? I love that in geometry there are multiple right answers!

Technically, it's that there are multiple paths to the correct answers . . . . . In your geometry example the teacher was attempting to solicit a shorter path to the single correct answer . . . . . .

All the various fields & tools of mathematics (algebra, geometry, calculus, topology, matrices, statistics, & so on) generally are just different paths to solving the essential problems that math tackles . . . . . .

I loved that about math, that if I couldn't figure a problem out as an algebraic expression, I could look at it as a geometry problem, for example . . . . . For me this was very conducive to my rather non-linear mind that generally works best when it gets to roam about . .. . . .

& IronBear, I think about Schroedinger's boxes all the time, anyone on the internet is essentially a Schroedingers box waiting to be observed & pinned down -- for that moment . . . . .

[:D]

Did someone say geek? . . . . lol . . . . Oh, my, yes . . . . . Twuly twuly twuly geekygrrl . . . . . lol
