But one thing is clear - however bad British TV has become, it still has a way to go to reach the depths of the US; given that over here we get the best, the remainder must be drivel.

True- the best show on American TV right now is Top Gear on BBC America. Aside from that, just about everything i watch is animated.

I really don't see Netflix as a superior alternative, however- the only thing worse than modern television is modern cinema. Movies based on video games, comic books, old TV shows, remakes of old movies, more video games, and sequels to all the preceding... Would i rather watch "American Idol" or one of the two (!) movies about "mall cops" to come out this year? Hm... i'm going to have to pick C: Pound my head into the wall until I lose consciousness.

American TV does not suck for the majority... they like it...Networks spend millions polling our watching habits.

Just because you don't like TV does not mean most agree with you... in fact they don't...even though I do.

Here in Canada we have some really well done documentary type programs. I have learned lots of incredible stuff I didnt know about from these shows. I like movies too and sometimes the most perfect movie is on.

I get sucked in time to time to watching it all with not much discrimination. I have lived throughout many phases of my life with no tv and sometimes with too much. I was given my tv as a Christmas gift but I dont have cable so I get like 5 stations maybe, including the local pbs station. I usually am doing something else while I watch, I have always been like that.

I think tv could be so much better than it is and likely will be. I dont like the whole fry your eyeballs to distraction particles that seem to fly out of the tv, it doesnt feel healthy to me.

I have had many good times watching tv. I think it would be fun to write a tv show, be with a group of writers, you know like on the Dick Van Dyke show? Harhahahahar.

I wouldn't know.  My T.V. is on a shelf in the basement, unplugged.

American television is the opiate of the American people.

I thought the "glass teat" was a crack pipe...I'm so confused.

no, that's the glass dick

one of the things I do m,iss about having cable is watching BBC America (Monarch of the Glen... LOVED that show!  lost my cable just as Torchwood was starting.. and I was intrigued by what I'd heard of it).  I also miss TV Land.  Some of the shows on Bravo I liked.

I miss watching the L&O franchises.

MAINLY, I dont miss TV at all, although my time that WAS spent watching my shows is now spent on the computer.
