pahunkboy -> Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 7:17:22 AM)

This group- who isnt into the hobby could be great to pick the brain.     Do you see gold out performing silver?  Or silver outperforming gold.

Honestly the stuff is heavy. And where to hide it?

I scored some Franklin halfs on ebay cheap.  Wow. I wish I had more money- I would buy the guy out.

So where would you hide the loot?

I hope you hide it well. All this bragging is setting yourself up for an unwelcome visitor that will be happy to hide some of it for you.

UncleNasty -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 7:46:30 AM)

If I told you Hunk, I'd either have to kill you and anyone else you mighthave told, or move my stashes.

You are correct.    Good point.

I am not so sanguine that either is the great reservoir of wealth being just another couple of commodities no different than say cotton or rubber and even though all 4 have an industrial use.

Maybe your coins will survive the continuing speculation. Be careful...commodities can go down as fast or even faster than they went up.

the bail outs can not stop.   we can drag on today for 1 year to 1 1/4 year.  then it all collapses.   Bob Chapman is the dude I listen to.  I could do better on food storage.      Tho- a few mice have me spooked.   Silver wont attract mice.  :-)

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 8:05:29 AM)

How about mason jars buried in the yard....then ya just gotta hide the map to their location(s)

It's a very simple answer:  The safest place to hide gold is in my house.

servantforuse -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 8:09:24 AM)

When this economy turns around, and it will, the price of gold will go down. I would be carefull in buying it right now. These sharks selling gold coins on the info-commercials are putting your money in their pockets..

pahunkboy -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 8:12:54 AM)

I dont care if it goes down.   I can still touch it and no counter party risk.   It is already done.  I committed.   Tho using the heat bill money to buy those Franklins.  ;-0

servantforuse -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 8:18:13 AM)

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me to pay $900 for something that might be worth $700 in a year or so. How about a well established mutual fund with a 10 year track record instead.

LaTigresse -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 8:22:58 AM)

I have to tell you PA, as much as I like you, it is threads like this that do not give you credit for much common sense.

The financial system, and monetary system is in the process of collapsing.   Gold/silver/food/ammo the only real assets.  One cant watch hourly prices.   anyhow- I trust what I can see feel and touch.   Thats me.

What if I am correct?      6000 years gold is a measure of wealth.

servantforuse -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 8:28:41 AM)

It's your money, but I retired at age 55 and my funds are doing nicely for me. I would still be at the Phone Co. if I had played the commodity market instead of doing what I did..

LaTigresse -> RE: Silver/gold where to hide it (4/12/2009 8:31:32 AM)

PA I prefer to pay my heat bill and stick to less volatile investments. And, I don't care what the commodity is that you are buying, to purchase it when it is at a high and saying you do not care if the value decreases is pure foolishness.

Never mind though, your past posts on this subject have shown me that you will continue this foolhardy path regardness. I can only sit here and watch, reading your posts while shaking my head.

It's one thing to buy a commodity with your left over, fun money. But to do so with money that should be spent elsewhere, like living expenses, betting that the commodity will go up. That is rediculous and foolish.
