This has been debunked again and again. You can decide, of course, to be offended. Your choice, your life.

Are Gang Members Using Military Training?
Military Police Have Briefed Local Police That Troops Could Be Sharing Their Skills

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/07/29/eveningnews/main3108597.shtml

It's a concern also raised by the FBI. In a recent report the agency warned: "Military training could ultimately result in more sophisticated and deadly gangs ... as well deadly assaults on law enforcement officers."

CBS News has learned that military police have briefed local authorities in major cities, including New York, about the rising danger that gang members in the military could share their skills with gangs on the streets. That could include combat, logistics, and even emergency medical skills.

"We heard about it in other places," Lott said. "We didn't think Columbia, South Carolina would be a place where the military would have influence on our gangs, but we had it."

Army investigators tell CBS News that there is absolutely no evidence that soldiers are using their combat training in gang activity, nor proof that gangs are sending members into the military to learn such skills. They insist the threat is low.

"We're not seeing this in this particular time – we're just not," said Colonel Gene Smith of the U.S. Army's Office of the Provost Marshal. "It's just a theory."

But there was an incident in which a disturbed Marine used his training to kill two policemen. In January, 2005, the Marine, who police say was associated with the Norteno street gang, shot to death two policeman outside a convenience store in Ceres, California.

Surveillance video shows him using a technique marines call "cutting the pie" – instead of cowering, he boldly attacks.

"Gangs are gaining strength across the United States," said Hunter Glass, a retired police detective who tracks gangs. "The numbers are increasing like crazy around the U.S. and adding this extra fuel is just not going to help matters."

Though I respect vets, the OP is full of it.

His outrage should be with the thugs, gangs and hate groups targeting our GIs.Not the president.

His 1st reaction upon finding out he was in-correct should have been an apology and then a declaration of outrage toward the hate groups.

So far,no outrage.

The sad truth is that one of the unintended and unwanted consequence's of each and every one of America's conflicts has been and probably allways will be a number of maladjusted veterans returned to civilian life. These current conflicts have been and will be no different. And acknowledging that situation is in no way a slap at veterans...the majority of which return and integrate completely to civilian life after their service. Some will of course choose to ignore that last and concentrate on the perceived insult.

And remember a good part of the people on this board also served their country...that is not a reason for us to support your accusations without anything to back them up.

IF a spokesperson from the DHS has said
quote:

a small number of Muslims have joined extremist groups.
you can be sure the excrement would have hit the rotary oscillator.  It should be obvious that it is OK to bash our military, but put the blame where it might possibly belong...and one will be castigated.

That's completely irrelevant. Perhaps you need to make a new thread to vent about Muslims ?

"small number of Muslims have joined extremist groups"

I`m pretty sure I`ve heard this said by the government more than a few times.Whare have you been?

Any castigation I`ve seen is when bigots try to conflate the Muslim faith and terrorism.

Is that what got you castigated?

If you go back to my original response:
"The FBI report said that from October 2001 through May 2008 "a minuscule" number of veterans, 203 out of 23,000, had joined groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, the National Socialist Movement, the Creativity Movement, the National Alliance and some skinhead groups."

The number quoted is less than 1%.

It is pretty clear to me that the report was not generated to discredit veterans.

It's really weird you should say that, because I have no memory of ever either disagreeing, or agreeing with you... in fact, I think this is the first time ever we have posted directly to each other. I thank the OP's misplaced outrage for that :-) .

Kittin there are a number of poor deluded love sick puppies, who for some strange reason insist on following you around and engaging you on these forum. Not saying Kazza is one of them...just commenting on this completely unexplainable phenomena.
It is beyond my understanding why anyone would do this.

In kazza's current incarnation, yes it is the first time we have posted directly but in her former incarnation as phoenix we butted heads plenty. kazza can't say she didn't enjoy some of them though

Doncha just love the OPs usage of "you people" lol, kazza thinks he just plain doesn't like Obama and wanted to spout off about him. kazza looooves Obama, maybe he could be our PM when he's done in the US? kazza plans on inviting him.
